Audience 8.8 – A fascinating recording, obviously with high quality microphones because there’s a detail here, especially with drums and bass (managing to realistically capture the depth of bass and the precision of drums). Guitar and to a lesser degree vocals get pushed slightly behind drums and bass, and the keyboards are a little bit behind those. Not to worry, even when the guitar work is almost tough to make out (taper must have been on one side of the stage) you have to remember Gilmour plays a lot of high notes which tend to carry across any hall so they are picked up here. My opinion is that because of the elegance of the way the bass and drums are recorded, when the guitar is really present it makes for something pretty amazing when it all comes together (and it does, just not all the time).
