CD 1 Audience 8.5 - A very good sounding tape here, nothing that annoys the ears, in fact it is clear with a solid impact vocal and smoothly integrated guitar/bass. I did notice some phasing effect but it’s not even a bother at all, in fact in this case it adds some atmospherics. Solid! CD2 Audience 8.7 - Slightly more distant than the previous show but certainly has good clarity, a more even mix as far as the drums being at the same level as guitar, bass, and vocals. It gains points in the overall clarity, sounding like a master was used as there is virtually no tape noise, no mid-band muddiness, really CLEAR! Turn up the volume because it sounds way much better at loud levels. Audience 8.4 - A barn-burner gig and maybe one of the best of the tour (recorded, anyway) with some unbelievable jamming. The audio is decent, some mid band clutter was equalized to allow less noise and more music to permeate your space. I think that made the difference with this tape. It’s worth getting and will impress you even more than you might already have been with these guys. Always gave their best. Soundboard 8.3 - I found a lot to sink into with this very early Megadeth recording. First off, it’s better sounding than the old tape that floated around for a while, as someone took the time to re-master it and pitch correct it which makes a big difference. It’s still a little narrow and thin, but you’ll be blown away by what you are hearing, if you have even a mild interest in the formative years of Megadeth, this show is a must. Audience 8.2 and 8.4 - Both recordings, while limited in their own respective ways, are both MUST HAVES for the early Motley Crue collectors because they are pretty listenable, with the nod going to the later show even though it is narrower in its bandwidth (it is, however, much clearer). The ‘81 show is a little cluttered in the center, but has broader range and sounds “hot” so to speak. There is some minor variance in the first disc being that is taken from four different sources, but consistently good. Audience 8.8 - One of those recordings where the taper must be right in front of the house P.A. system but he knows how to adjust the levels and so gets a super high energy recording with minimal audience interference. This is one that just goes right to your brain, it’s super exciting and heavy! -
Audience 8.8 - Another great tape made by someone obviously knowing what they were doing. There are a couple of cuts here and there, not deal breakers by any means but full disclosure. Anyway, a solid, in the pocket recording of a sizzling gig with great interplay between Jobson and Beck. -
Audience 9.3 - Did you miss Queen in their prime? Don’t worry, because now you can be there again by listening to this show. I think every English band that plays Boston elevates their game, perhaps it is because Boston feels like home to them…it is kind of quaint and vaguely British I guess. -
Soundboard 8.8 - A great time period for the band, a fantastic set list has been worked up and the playing is more adventurous now, with some good inspired guitar work throughout. -
