• Audience 8.8 - Clear and bright, and wide open enough to be able to get a realistic sense of what it was like at the venue. Maybe a little light on the bottom, but it’s hard to knock it as it’s so crisp and clear. • Soundboard 9.6 - Professionally recorded for broadcast, this is a pre-FM tape source. They say this is one of the best live Kinks show ever. Debatable, but yeah it’s pretty damn good.   The Kinks live Winterland, San Francisco 1977.02.19 PRE-FM Recording - KSAN Master Reel (except tracks 1, 21 & 22 from FM broadcast) Disc 1 01 - You Really Got Me (Intro) 02 - One Of The Survivors 03 - Sleepwalker 04 - Rush Hour Blues 05 - You Make It All Worthwhile/Ordinary People/Everybody's A Star 06 – Lola(singalong)/Banana Boat Song 07 - A Well Respected Man 08 - Sunny Afternoon 09 - Waterloo Sunset 10 - Celluloid Heroes 11 - Schooldays 12 - Schooldays(reprise)/The Hard Way 13 – Education   Disc 2 14 - Brother 15 - Stormy Sky 16 - Life Goes On 17 - Full Moon 18 - Lola 19 - Alcohol 20 - You Really Got Me/All Day All Of the Night 21 - Life On the Road 22 – Victoria   Total Time = 112:45   Ray Davies - guitar, vocals Dave Davies - lead guitar, vocals Andy Pyle - bass John Gosling - piano, keyboards Mick Avory - drums Nick Newell - sax Debbie Doss - background vocals Shirley Roden - background vocals
  • Audience 8.6 - A tape that benefited from a recent re-mastering which boosted the middle frequencies so that it is no longer “hollowed out” like it was. Good round bottom end on this one, not boomy but present. Soundboard 9.8  - Another example of why collectors consider these two shows (this and the previous night) as Zeppelin at the absolute top of their game. Thankfully captured from the board in mind numbingly good quality both sonically and mix-wise.

Soundboard 9.8  - You can’t do much better than these, mainly because the board tape itself is full of life and expertly mixed in contrast to other more sterile boards. The other is because the band is firing on all cylinders, and taking improvisation to dizzying heights as evidence by the No Quarter, Dazed and Confused marathon improve sections.

Audience 8.7 - A good strong sounding tape with a minimal bit of clutter somewhere in the middle frequencies that does not distract thankfully. Recorded on some good gear, you can tell. Just listen to the organ when the music stops during Gypsy and you know what I'm talking about...just ripping!
  • Soundboard 9.5 - A professionally recorded concert, this was broadcast on the famous Rockpalast TV show in Germany.
  • FM Broadcast 8.8 - A terrific slice of power pop played by perhaps the best ever in the genre. All the songs are killer - no filler, a band at the height of their powers.
  • PRO STUDIO 9.3 - One of the best I have come across, a great selection of tracks and some I’d never heard before. Excellent!
  • SDBRD 8.8 - One of the best, if not the best, of the later Ted Nugent & The Amboy Dukes live recordings. Great playing abounds, and Ted is Ted, as usual, and it kind of makes one wonder – did David Lee Roth get his schtick from having been to one of these gigs?  Seems like it.
  • Soundboard 9.0 - Excellent and rare document of an amazing band at an amazing time of their career.…simply put this is an absolute must have!
  • Soundboard 9.8 - Exceptional sound and performance make this not only a must have, but a desert island disc!
  • Audience 8.3 - This is as good as I have ever heard this show sound. Possibly from a very low generation tape source or master because there is no hiss, and it is pretty clear although not super dynamic. The band was in top form during this European series of concerts.
  • Soundboard 9.0 - Wow what a find this one is! Early Rush show in soundboard quality, oh man! Yeah, you gotta get this, I mean, what more can one say about it? Fantastic find, what a nice surprise for the loyal Rush fans!
