Montrose Boston 1974 Aud 8.6 - A new master tape source used for this one, and the tape is very clear although the hall acoustics are not optimal but it ROCKS! It’s decent and a lot of fun. Spooky Tooth Boston 1974 Audience 8.5 - A master tape source obtained for this presentation and aside from the acoustics of the venue and the sound mix itself, this is a good tape and can be enjoyed. Humble Pie Boston 1974 Audience 8.5 - This recording is from a master source and is clear, but the house mix and the venue make it hard to get that separation of instruments that make for a better experience. Audience 7.3 - Sounds very close to the stage, and the tape machine struggles, but there’s something magical about this one…the band sounds more experimental and “free” to just rock it and jam. There is a palpable energy and the recording does capture that. -

Audience 8.9 - You can turn the volume way up and it gets better and better because the wise taper knew what he was doing. The show is incomplete though but you won’t find me complaining. Thankful for what I have, and you will be too! -
Audience 7.7 - A little boomy, and that typical 70’s hard rock big hall sound but it ROCKS! It’s decent and a lot of fun. -
Audience 7.3 - Loud and slightly distorted but pretty dang raucous and for that I like it. -
Audience 8.6 - A serviceable recording, it stays sort of in the midrange spectrum but is pretty powerful anyway. I suspect this may be audio that was taken from a video source, but to my ears it sounds better than a typical home video camera audio capture. -
A limited edition offering from Houston based ShroomAngel Records. This band was one of the "inner loop" bands that began pushing boundaries in the local scene with their hybrid style, born out of two worlds - the growing "grunge" sound pioneered by Janes Addiction (which you can hear in their sound especially vocals) and Mudhoney among others, but also in old guard punk and hard rock, which you also get reminiscences of in their sound. The music even crosses into some psychedelic territory, it's pretty much an amalgamation of several styles that sometimes adds a sort of exotic feel, but with an anxious, almost paranoid underpinning. -

Soundboard 9.7 - This is what keeps me excited about collecting…this right here. I was not very knowledgeable of their live catalog (whatever is out there, IDK) and so I did not know what to expect with this. Man, just man, it literally BLEW me away! Just amazing in every way – and the playing, along with pristine sound quality, it’s just a no-brainer. I did not know how accomplished these guys were, the musicianship is off the charts good. Very tight, very professional, and great songs for the style they play in – they even cover Lynyrd Skynyrd as a nod to their counterparts. Good, I mean, GREAT stuff!
