• Audience  8.8 - Sparkling! There’s a really wonderful, intimate atmosphere permeating this recording, and I don’t mean “hall reverb” either. The warmth of the recording captures the warmth of the artist/audience experience. There’s a bit of chatter present but it’s all part of the deal. Get this one!
  • Audience  9.0 - Both Shows are 9.0 ... Simply gorgeous, lush, well balanced recordings made by people who obviously knew what they were doing. The only knock is maybe a little squishing in the middle during peak volume moments. I wish I could get my hands on any other tapes these guys made! Get this you won’t regret it.
  • Audience  7.6 - I wish this sounded better because it’s one of the few recordings capturing that rare moment when they are joined by the Zeppers. So, yeah, a little rough with the loudness and all, but important in a historical sense.
  • CD 1 - Brisbane - Audience  7.8  (a little bit flat maybe but it is clear enough you hear the whole band, still enjoyable nonetheless) CD 2 - Lancaster - Audience  8.6  (a great recording here)
  • Audience  8.5 - Nothing much to complain about here. A good and very “live” sounding tape. Gives you the atmosphere which, if done properly, adds much to the tape.
  • Audience  7.9 - Foot- stomping and LOUD recording! Bristles with energy, the tape can barely contain it but it does. Fun show!
  • Shotgun were a 1970s rock band from Dallas. The band consisted of Guy Houston on drums, Hugh Coleman on bass, John Michael Soria on lead guitar, Russ Skarsten on keyboards, and Billy Metcalf on lead vocals.  The band's 1976 album, recorded but never released, Dallasian Rock was remastered and reissued by ShroomAngel Records, in 2014. Reviewing the album for seaoftranquility.org, Pete Pardo awarded the album five stars and said: "This is incredible material that should have been huge back in the day, and the amazing thing is it still sounds fresh and exciting here in 2014. The ShroomAngel team have done a wonderful job on the remastering, so be prepared for a killer listening experience."
  • Audience  7.8 - Both shows roughly the same with enough differences to say one has qualities the other doesn’t have and vice versa. So whereas in one show you might get more definition on guitar, the other will have more vocal presence and a slightly better rhythm section. Take your pick, two vintage Atomic Rooster gigs hardly a losing proposition.
  • Audience  8.3-8.7 - What starts out sounding kind of boomy, slowly starts to turn into a very good and powerful recording as if the taper started on one side (bass) and moved to the middle…either that or the sound man finally got it right. Either way this will surely please!
  • This is the first release on the Shroom Productions record label begun in 1995. It consisted of tracks mostly from Hands 1977 January Sound recording sessions in Dallas, TX.   The CD was put together from that plus an assortment of other tracks because, at the time, it was not known if there would be another Hands CD, we just did not know what the demand would be. Well, some 3000 copies later, and there is STILL demand for this great music. Numerous reviews and consistently high ratings give praise to this band and this CD in particular. Discover them if you have not heard any of their music, I mean, if you love bands like Gentle Giant, King Crimson, Kansas, Yes, Camel, Happy The Man, Gryphon, Greenslade, UK, or PFM.
  • Pro recordings  9.4 - Totally excellent.
  • Audience  8.6 - A little bit thin as far as this recording goes in that it could use a little more bottom end but that is not a deal breaker because it is not a “shrill” thin, just could use more lows. That being said, there’s a lot to chew on with this show. Great performance, good quality, so just be aware the singer requires some getting used to!  Have fun.
  • Audience  8.3 - This recording captures a medium to large hall atmosphere from maybe middle rows and is quite good under those circumstances. It actually lends a cool vibe to the show, despite that naturally huge reverb going on. Oh, if you are unfamiliar with them, here’s the deal: GREAT hard and heavy jazz rock leaning towards rock with a very quirky singer. Once you get used to him, you are LOVING this band.
  • Audience  8.7 - A strong and intense recording with a percussive tilt to it, so you get a very present and crisp drums and percussion. Everything else is also pretty clear but I would have liked guitars more up front but they are fine. This period of the band is exciting and intense, so if you love your progressive jazz hard rock played with fire and intensity that sometimes is off the charts this band is for you.
  • Audience  8.8 - A very direct and punchy recording that delivers the music straight into your ears without passing through any air. As if you are sitting in front of the speaker as they play, nobody in front of you. It makes for a cool experience to hear this super intense band so intimately.
  • Audience  8.3 - Some tinny highs but a good defined bass, so a complete sound spectrum present although I might roll off the highs and boost my mids for better listening.
  • Soundboard  9.4 - What I find most appealing about this show is the mix, and how they do not bury the guitar which is what you might normally assume given the type of “top 40” music Annie wrote at the time. You will be pleasantly surprised to hear the guitar front and center, and actually pretty grungy sounding.
  • Soundboard  9.3 - Some tape hiss during quieter passages, but overall an excellent show.
  • Audience  7.1 - A rough tape that improved a lot with some mastering. Now, you actually can really tell what they are doing! Worth it for the improved sound.
  • Audience  7.3 - This tape is a welcome find mainly due to the scarcity of live Amon Duul tapes in existence. Sound is not hi-fi, there is some tape noise, there is general noise, and there is music which thankfully can be heard through the din. Actually the mid to highs are intact, some bottom end is missing, it’s still not a completely annoying tape at all, can be enjoyed for what it is.
  • Audience  7.5 - Serviceable tape that at times shows its age with some telltale squeaking at the beginning. Gives you a pretty good representation of the show without offending , but the mix has vocals kind of low, and overall is a touch on the dark side but Duane’s playing is the focus, where it is front and center in the mix.
  • Soundboard  9.3 - Pro radio broadcast.
  • Audience  7.0 - Somewhat distorted due to proximity to the stage and volume. The tape is clearly overloaded and struggling here. Now the good news – this is a Duane Allman showcase, and he is clear on this tape! It’s a keeper, but not winning any prizes.
  • Soundboard  8.9 - It’s a very clean, good board but it features a heavy reverb sound, but it’s probably natural reverb. Still an interesting kind of atmospheric recording.
  • FM Broadcast  8.8 - A fantastic early document!
  • Audience  8.1 - Small club sound, a little bit muffled but guitars, vocals and harmonica and even piano come through fine and all in all I think once your ears adjust you can enjoy this. A wild night of rock and roll for sure!
  • Audience  8.5 - 1st night ... What a treat! Really well recorded although not dynamically perfect. It is strong and very clear, and what a show it is! Get this!
  • Soundboard  8.4 - A bit compressed, some obvious nr was used in mastering but still not too bad with everything evenly mixed.
