• Audience 8.7 - A somewhat crude tape that manages to still present some meat you can savor. The slightly overloaded tape can still allow everything to be heard although drums are not very distinct (cymbal washes do clear the mix because they sit in the high band range) and neither are the vocals - but here's the saving grace: The guitar is present and accounted for and you really NEED that with this band because this guy is phenomenal. • 1970 - Audience 9.1 - Excellent! Very clear, pretty close, respectful audience, good acoustics, great instrument separation...it's all here for your ears to feast upon. 1972 - Pro SDBRD 9.7 - Amazing of course, it's a professional recording that was released on video but I think this is not taken from a video source as it is totally uncompressed. 1973 - Audience 9.0 - A choice recording as it has a really driving energy. This is not one of those Traffic shows that gets bogged down, it's high energy, loud, and thankfully captured very nicely.

  • Audience 9.3 - Excellent quality, in fact I think this is a professional recording done on or very close to the stage. It has certain tell-tale qualities, like there being minimal audience noise and very clear, well-balanced band. Good mix here, even without Duane present I think most listeners will find this most welcome especially considering two songs are played featuring Johnny Winter.   THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Hollywood Bowl Hollywood, CA August 6, 1972 1. • Newcastle Audience 8.7 - A fairly bombastic recording that insists you pay attention to it. Thundering, massive, and thankfully listenable. It's not winning any awards for clarity, but it makes up for a lot of that with a representative recording of what you probably heard from the front row at this show. That leads me to say that while you would think there should be distortion, you can't really tell, but yes there just a bit of saturation deep in the bowels somewhere but I don't find it disturbing because it's low enough that you don't focus too much there. London Audience 8.6 - Dropping down one notch here, but there actually might be more mid-upper mid clarity with this recording. I think overall, this recording is a little less forceful, and there is no distortion at all on this. My ears rate this slightly below the Newcastle not because it is inferior quality, but because it is not quite as ballsy, and the trade-off is you have to give up a but of the balls in order to achieve more clarity, but sometimes ballsy is not a bad thing if it isn't too muddy. • Audience 8.7 - A new re-mastering has taken what was once a very muddy recording and breathed significant new life into it. I mean, if ever there was a time to be collecting it is right now. So while it still might be considered as an average audience recording, the fact is that there is much more in this tape than what was once believed and which is why it flew under the Sabbath collector radar. But it's actually pretty good, I can only be a little critical if I analyze what is happening at the lower end here, not much definition and guitar blends into the bass somewhat and provide a volume backdrop that is "dark" and foreboding but not a mess either. I think people should give this re-mastered version a chance, I did and I am very glad I did. Black Sabbath 1971-01-18 City Hall Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK 01. Paranoid 02. N.I.B. 03. War Pigs 04. • Hoffman Estates - Audience 8.7 - Residing mainly in the mid and upper mid range this recording does not showcase any real definition in the highs, and the metal loudness defined as a solid guitar/bass attack for the low end. What you end up with here with these two recordings is something of historical value but nothing you would use to impress your buddies with. Are they essential for the collection? Yes, both of these shows are very significant in value and because they are not horrible recordings I can recommend them.

Chicago - Audience 8.8 - This recording has a softer mid-range making it a little more comfortable, but still does not have a clarity and distinction to it, but it is also not muddy, it's just a capture that was made with equipment that had only the capability to document a live event, it wasn't made to do a professional live recording so keep that in mind - pretty decent but not great. I will say this, and I sincerely believe this - I think this recording is exactly what your ears would have been hearing at this show. That is why I think these recordings are important, even if they lack soundboard clarity and are not A+ audience tapes. There's plenty to enjoy here with both of these shows.

  • Audience 8.8 - Very clear, and pretty bright, and that means the tape sacrifices the bottom end in favor of getting the clarity and separation of instruments - that might be considered the trade-off here. I would prefer more bass, but this is something one can add themselves, that is why I highly rate this recording. I think because it is so clear you can really season it to taste more so than if you had a cluttered, or muddy recording. Black Sabbath The Spectrum Philadelphia, PA 1981-12-04 Disc 1 101. E5150 102. • Audience 9.3 - I love this recording, probably a lot more than a soundboard. This is the one your ears have been waiting for. Good separation between bass and guitar so that each is distinct, plenty of bottom end but it isn't at the expense of anything else in the mix - it's perfect. I love the bass definition too, and Ian sounds good. Sometimes I think this may be pro, but for the drums which, while excellent, have the slightest touch of sizzle on the cymbals (and by extension you get a touch of it every now and then on vocals) but it's minor and it probably would not be present on a pro recording. This is really just quibbling, trying to find flaws, the recording is BADASS! Black Sabbath Quebec City Coliseum Quebec, Canada 1983-10-20 Disc 1 101. Supertzar 102. Children Of The Grave 103. • Audience 8.9 - Excellent quality, I did find it worthwhile in almost every regard but keep in mind it is a large venue so it is not a close, tight, and super dynamic recording. It is, however, clear and well done, and overall the sound is picked up well from the main P.A. system, it has force, it has clarity, it has a good "live" quality to it with all the atmosphere of being there. • All Soundboard 9.2 to 9.6 - This is a great collection for the Santana enthusiast, but also for the casual fan. The sound is consistently great across all discs, with only minor tonality differences (such as a slightly brighter tone on the New Orleans portion of disc 2). • Cleveland 1978 SDBRD 9.7 - Great sound! Perfectly mixed, good live atmosphere (even though it is a board tape, the microphones do pick up the ambience). Cleveland 1980 SDBRD 9.3 - A very bright (almost too bright) recording, and it would have been a tragedy if this did not have anything else going but it does - it's got good guts, and yes even low end although it could use a touch more beefiness. Still, this is one hot sounding show, sure to please even the most jaded collector.

  • Audience 9.1 - Lovely, well done recording that does have one or two "wobbles" where the tape might have stretched or something (only caught it once) but a minor deal really. It's a warm sound, and has a lot of headroom which is essential and a big benefit if you want to add your own EQ settings. Lots to enjoy here, I recommend this wholeheartedly. • Audience 9.0 - A SOLID, and I mean very good tape. The high end rings out nicely, drums have a nice real sound to them, and all instruments are heard clearly. The venue has good acoustics, so that helps a lot, it really allows for the immersive experience without being painful on the ear drums. This is one to get. • Audience 8.9 - A touch distant maybe, but otherwise this is a good, clear recording. You don't really see this one being reissued much, which is strange to me because it's a great show. • Audience 8.9 - A pretty good tape, the mix is very good, with good clear guitar and bass sitting just right, alongside the drums complimenting each other and not fighting for bandwidth at all. Vocals sit about all of it where they should be - all in all I like this one a lot. Ghost Göransson Arena Sandviken, Sweden 2025-05-23 Disc 1 01. Peacefield 02. Lachryma 03. Spirit 04. • Audience 8.3 - not a good sounding tape, but it gives you enough guitar and vocals too actually keep listening, and you'll actually be glad you stuck with it because here's one thing I get from this: A totally uncirculated tape that shows Led Zeppelin absolutely crushing it, in fact so much so that I really wish this was professionally recorded and released legit because it's a much better show than Long Beach. Most songs are incomplete, audio comes and goes - actually occasionally getting pretty good, but it's hit or miss all the way. I think any Zep collector is going to appreciate this performance for sure - really amazing and for that I think you have to give this a listen. • Leicester Audience 9.2 - Very clear, close, with very detailed highs and a solid, driving low end to round out the sound. Rob Halford sounds like he's in your living room. Super lively! Sheffield Audience 9.1 - This one is solid, the guitar and vocals are the stars of the show, but drums sit very nicely here and the bass is pumping away without being boomy at all. This is a really nice tape!

  • Professional recording only available as a digital download. It's too good to remain vapor ware. A lot of effort and care has been taken to represent this release as close to an official capacity as possible. So, if you love complex, ELP inspired prog with vintage sounding instruments (think Anglagard, ELP, Porcupine Tree). than get this because this Russian band really delivers the goods.
