The music at full blast gets just a bit of overload (not distortion, but just a sense of the wall of sound thing) all in all it is safe to say this one is highly recommended. CD 1 Audience 8.5 - A very good sounding tape here, nothing that annoys the ears, in fact it is clear with a solid impact vocal and smoothly integrated guitar/bass. I did notice some phasing effect but it’s not even a bother at all, in fact in this case it adds some atmospherics. Solid! CD2 Audience 8.7 - Slightly more distant than the previous show but certainly has good clarity, a more even mix as far as the drums being at the same level as guitar, bass, and vocals. It gains points in the overall clarity, sounding like a master was used as there is virtually no tape noise, no mid-band muddiness, really CLEAR! Turn up the volume because it sounds way much better at loud levels. Audience 8.2 and 8.4 - Both recordings, while limited in their own respective ways, are both MUST HAVES for the early Motley Crue collectors because they are pretty listenable, with the nod going to the later show even though it is narrower in its bandwidth (it is, however, much clearer). The ‘81 show is a little cluttered in the center, but has broader range and sounds “hot” so to speak. Soundboard 8.8 - A real surprise, and a real treat this one! The band is playing a college campus and having been on the road for a while their chops are all finely honed. It’s so nice to hear a tape where Terry’s guitar is articulate and clear and not buried in the mud.
