• Soundboard 9.2 - Another fine recording from the board is here to enjoy. A great setlist, and I mean it is super strong all the way through. Hard to beat this period. Great stuff! • Landover 1973 Soundboard 9.3 - A solid recording that was broadcast over the air and features a nice wide stereo mix showing detail in the bass and crisp, crunchy guitar not to mention having another well recorded Keith Moon experience…and of course Roger is in fine form (when is he not?). Wembley 1975 Audience 8.5 - Not horrible, the music is all here in pretty clear form (I get a good picture of drums thankfully), but the highlight is the stage banter where you get a lot of stuff that will entertain for sure. I am happy say that the recording does also get better, so that once you are firmly ensconced in your listening chair you will start to get into this one more and more. • Audience 9.1 - A great tape that ramps up the intensity and puts you in the front row. This show has been put out before but never sounding as good as this. Wowsers! Note: Some of the following evenings show in San Diego was used to replace music that was lost due to technical issues and while not as good as the LA show it is still very good sounding. • Audience 8.4 - An incredibly loud tape, bordering on catastrophe but not quite going over the red line of doom. What I mean is, the tape is just way overloaded, but it hangs together miraculously just enough to be able go ahead and listen through…although at times it’s so intense you just have to turn the volume down a bit. Now, when you get to, say, The Rain Song – yeah, the tape shines…it’s just that kind of tape. NOTE: After the tape flip in Rain Song, the taper seems to have been able to dial down the recording level a little bit, it seems to get a little more manageable. • Audience 8.8 - Once again, we are literally fighting it out in the rows with the fans but thankfully the music comes through it all in fine fashion, which is amazing in and of itself. Taper must have used pretty good hear to accomplish this feat – how to survive in the sweaty pits of hell and at the same time produce a very decent bootleg tape!  Well, they did, so thank you taper for your efforts. • Audience 8.6 - I wanted to give this a better rating, and truth is it ain’t bad, but it is a little distant and the music lacks punch. It is clear enough though, and audience actually helps propel the energy level up a notch. Austin music fans are always up for a great concert and really show their enthusiasm.  Also, I think the set list around this time was put together very well and flows nicely. • Soundboard 9.3 - A super clean, almost clinical board tape where you get detail on all the instruments. This is probably not how the show actually sounded, but it’s great if you want to hear the band playing in your living room. • Audience 8.6 - A very decent recording that may be slightly distant but is real clear and not boomy, rather there is a pretty inviting bottom end and sharp highs – it’s the middle frequency that is not as present which is not generally the case. The taper is in the brawling midst of the action on the floor and you really do feel a part of their excitement during the concert. I would say this is kind of immersive in that sense, and not annoyingly so either. A fun tape, I was sucked into it at times and could not extract myself. I had fun hearing all the goings on including the band…ha! Side Note: Jimmy is not having a night to remember…ah well. LED ZEPPELIN The Myriad Oklahoma City, OK. • Audience 8.1 - An old, very fragile tape was found and YEARS of grime and muck were removed to reveal a little bit of music. Still, on the scale of things Zeppelin, this tape is for completists only. Thankfully though it exists and has been wrapped in a very fine looking package. It deserves at least that much. Funny thing though, in listening to this, the bass is clear comparatively speaking and has a brassy, round sound that allows you to hear the notes he is playing. It’s not just a rumbling “low end” mess here, and so I appreciated that. Super excited audience also helps propel the recording a little bit. • Soundboard and TV 9.3/8.8 - The first two discs are by and large excellent and clear but the last disc is more subdued, still soundboard but the source has aged more and the signal is less bright. • Soundboard 9.6 - So, not every show of the ’74 tour was a train wreck and this should be proof of that. Sure, Clapton occasionally blurts stuff out, sometimes during a song, but performance-wise this is stellar. Sound quality is near perfect. • Audience 8.4 - Not a bad stadium recording that has a huge atmosphere and consequently not the best definition, although Roger soars high above with his articulate vocals. Bass is the underlying foundation of this recording…probably worth getting as it does seem to edge out a large portion of Euro ’70 tour tapes.
