• Miami 2019 Audience 8.8 - Tremendous atmosphere while retaining good and clear sound. It’s understandable being that the band plays enormous stadiums that you may have problems getting a solid capture, but provided that you aren’t in the nose bleeds, and your gear is decent, you can really get something worthwhile on tape with PA systems being so good. This is one such job. Charlie’s last gig with The Stones, and thankfully a good capture of the event. St. Louis 2021 Audience 9.2 - This one is right in the pocket!  Solid low end, with some genuine gut punching drums and bass without being boomy at all.  Vocals, nicely positioned in the mix, and both guitars are clear.  Really I have to say this is a joy to listen to and doesn’t have to be a soundboard to qualify.   • Audience 8.6 - In contrast to the Finland show, this one doesn't have the boominess but it is thinner sounding, however it is very clear and Kay is much more audible. Guitar, drums, and vocals very clear albeit thin. I found the bass to be lovely, round, very cool to hear such detail! This is NOT a muddy recording, and being 1970 that means you get the classic songs performed close to the records. One can only assume some of it was not saved, as was the BBC’s policy of not giving a shit, therefore it was up to fans to record from a radio broadcast themselves. These songs were already recorded on an earlier date and would eventually appear on official Who product with a slightly different mix (although it took more than 30 years for 'Summertime Blues'). This is the first Who BBC session that has at least partially survived on tape on the BBC archives, as the jingles and 'A Quick One' do not appear on copies of "Top of the Tops" transcription disc #157 & #160, yet appear in crystal clear quality on the official release. Strangely enough, the two TOTP discs seem to have been the source for the other tracks on the official CD, all of which are marred by a voiceover. The versions here are uninterrupted from start to finish (with the exception of the ending of 'Our Love Was'), for the first time ever. As a bonus, I have added a clean mono mix of 'Lily' with better fidelity than the BBC source which has not circulated before. * The 45RPM & BBC versions both contain a heavy bass dub that was imposed on the mono album master.   • Audience 8.6 - Not a bad tape at all, and seeing how there’s now all of what, one known live tape of this band I would say that is kind of cool. The band?  Well they are in their final incarnation here, and playing is very loose and experimental…but honestly they needed to ditch the flautist as he contributes not only nothing, but he’s in the way. Let the guitarist do his thing ‘cause he seems to be able to turn on the switch and lay down bursts of awesome psychedelic insanity.   • Soundboard 9.4 & Audience 8.6 - the first few discs are excellent soundboard which is cool because they are very early performances and there’s a lot to dive into there. The next couple of discs are good audience tapes, the first being a bit towards the back of a medium sized club, but it’s not bad. Overall it’s an interesting collection, really allows you to contemplate the artists changes over time, with band members, and compositions. Good stuff!   • Audience 8.4 - Not a high fidelity recording, sounding almost like an AM radio broadcast, but it gets a good sound review because it’s got clear guitar and bass (some tape hiss) and vocals are very clear. When a new tape pops up from such an early vintage you always immediately suspect it will be muddy crap so it’s a pleasant surprise to hear that it is decent. I like this show too, it’s a regular tour stop but the band is out to prove a point – and that point is that Led Zeppelin is not the only great English heavy rock band touring the States.   • Audience 8.3 - Limitations with the microphone is probably what prevents this recording from blossoming as it sometimes seems like it wants to do. You can hear it, for instance, during some of the passages, but I think the overloading of the bass crowds out the guitar a bit too much (although you can hear guitar, just not in a clear and detailed manner). Drums and keyboards dominate with a very insistent, pulsing bass undercurrent throughout. Does that count this out?  Not at all, due to the disparity of live BJH recordings, I think this one is worth exploring. The compositions and playing make up for the limitations on the tape.   • Soundboard 9.3 - This is, for me, a real revelation. I never knew anything of this band outside of their lone smash hit “My Sharona”, which incidentally happens to hearken me back to a very specific time and place of my youth when this song blasted from every radio every 10 minutes. Listening to this show, I am stunned at how excellent the band is, and how good ALL of the songs are. How they remained pigeonholed and forgotten as another 1 hit wonder it just amazes me because they should have been more than that.   • Pro TV Studio 8.7 - A good live recording with atmosphere, it sounds slightly dated but has the ability to transport you to the time and place…I think that when a recording can do that, it overcomes some of the limitations that may be present.   • Audience 8.8 - This may not be a tape with good song separation or detail but it occupies a sonic range that is very comfortable on the ears. Usually when attending a very loud, bombastic heavy rock or metal concert you aren’t going to distinguish much anyway, you will basically hear a roaring sound…but this tape delivers a little more than just that. This is a good document and taper used good gear, sat in a good spot, and recorded everything. I would call this recording completely immersive, with a warm, inviting sound.
