• Hard rock group from Houston active during the mid 70's and were primarily known as a covers band, playing many of the well known clubs in town. They recorded a handful of original songs in 1975, and disbanded following some unfortunate incidents while on the road. A single 7" record was released, however, and gained enough traction that rhythm guitarist Jimmy Lee Dean decided to continue on and recruit new members (the era known as Jeremiah MK II). This version of the band recorded a full length LP which never saw the light of day as the manager absconded with the master reels soon after the sessions, and nobody heard from him since. Eventually, we rediscovered these masters and attempted to transfer them in the studio but the tapes had severely degraded, the material, such as it is, is also contained on this collection. A 40th Anniversary reunion concert occurred in 2014, and excerpts from that show are included on the 2nd disc. All known recordings of this band are included in this package.  
  • The Houston Punk/Grunge rock scene of the late 80's and early 90's produced a very diverse and highly talented assortment of bands spawned inside the 610 Loop surrounding the downtown metroplex. Chief among those was a ferocious punk rock (or better, "Burly Pig Rock") band called SPUNK. Fronted by Tod Waters, a mercurial character with non-stop energy, talent, and bravado who to this day still creates dynamic rock and roll (as evidenced by the newest release of his current band DIE FAST). This new release features a pair of never before available soundboard recordings from the downstairs room at the legendary Fitzgerald's Club.

  • Audience 8.8 - The sound of this recording owes almost all of its characteristics to the house PA sound. What I mean is this: The recorder very accurately captured exactly what this gig sounded like, and so if there is any particular thing that is not as good as it could be, we need to talk to the sound man. This tape captures this show in excellent quality, I would say the rating reflects more what the sound itself actually was like at this show - not great (for me I just did not love the drum sounds, and thought the guitars could be louder) but really very good. I think it is a matter of preference then, because some people might really like the way this show sounds coming out of the main PA system.   • Audience 9.4 - This is a band that has attained the kind of status that warrants a serious examination of their live "bootleg" catalog. In particular, I think the years 1987 to 1992 are the important years, and any tapes that are listenable are considered collectible but the ones that are excellent, as this one is, should be sought out. Why? Because Guns 'N Roses was more than the sum of their parts, and the music that happened on stage more often than not seemed to hold that most elusive quality - Magic.   • Soundboard 9.0 -A somewhat confusing mix, almost as if a ghost is present in the board! Well what it actually is might not be that spooky at all, just the effects loop they use for what seems to be the kick drum, or drums in general. It's their signature, a background "noise" the resembles phasing, and gives the band a unique sound. Does it work for a soundboard tape is the question - and I think it can be slightly distracting but it's not used continuously. Other than that I think this is quite OK.   • Soundboard 9.4 - Clear and bold (especially percussion) capturing a very fine creative period of the band (the dual guitar with Neal Schon being especially notable). I did notice a slight amount of distortion in the lower frequencies but it's barely noticeable. The mix does change towards the end of No One To Depend On and a lot of the boominess and excessive volume is dialed back so it mitigates any distortion present. SANTANA Denver Coliseum Denver, CO.   • Soundboard 9.3 - This is not the complete show, but what we do have is required listening. Some minor technical flaws present on a couple of occasions, these aren't deal-breakers though.   • Audience 8.9 - One of the early efforts by Dan Lampinski to capture live music with good equipment. It's a decent job, you can tell clearly that the guy had a knack for it. The atmosphere he managed to get on tape was always very realistic and managed to remain unobtrusive even if it got loud.   • Audience 9.5 - Astounding for a 1970 era audience tape, it's got amazing atmosphere and plenty of headroom. The balance here is really good with vocals where they should be, which is very up front, but drums sound fantastic here and the piano sounds perfectly mixed between the two. I can't find too much to complain about with this one. Fantastic!
