• Audience 8.3 - Surprisingly well balanced and bright recording.
  • Audience 8.7 - This is a surprisingly clear tape with a superbly detailed bottom end and would rate MUCH higher if the sound mix brought the guitar and keys up a bit more. These complaints are not the fault of the taper or his gear, but rather the actual PA sound mix at the show, which by the way is VERY good so do not be put off at all, it’s that my preference would be for more guitars.
  • Audience 7.7 - Big stadium sound without a lot of boom, just maybe kind of far back and not clearly defined. You have to turn it up though, there’s TONS of headroom in this tape – somebody needs to remaster it.
  • Audience 8.7 - This is a very good recording that only needs more definition in the highs, but I still think this has to rank high in the pantheon of 1971 audience tapes. It’s a show that seems to invoke an almost reverential vibe in the audience, as they are quiet and respectful throughout but show bursts of appreciate at song endings. A good one, in many respects. Audience 8.7 - An interesting tape, the recording is very lifelike and captures one of the best keyboard dominate performances I have ever heard. What I mean is, the keys really come to life on this one, as opposed to being merely “sound effects”, and the rest of the band is great too. A keeper!
  • Audience 8.6 - A nice warm sound with loads of atmosphere, but no annoying echo or boominess! Great for 1972, although there is some underlying hiss (not too much).
  • Audience 9.4 - Clearly this tape belongs in the tapers hall of fame. So good, you hear every little nuance, I could swear I even hear the breaths taken between verses! Yes, it is that good!
  • Audience 7.6 - Gets better the louder you play it.
  • Brand New unsealed. The 30th Anniversary Edition of the album remix/remaster on SACD.
  • Audience 8.9 - Clear and plenty of detail here with a few problems showing up only very occasionally. One thing I noticed is there is a bit of what sounds like the music is moving around overhead, what this could be is the quad system and the mic is picking up the sound as it rotates around the venue. Otherwise it’s some kind of phasing but it’s not too annoying, just wish I knew exactly what it was.

Audience 8.7 - A decent tape that documents the first show of the ’77 Euro tour. There is a little bit of overcrowding in the mid to upper band, it’s not horrible but it prevents some of the detail in the guitar from being clearly heard. Bass sounds round and brassy, vocals are up front and clear.
  • Audience 8.6 - A clear tape that EXPLODES from your speakers…but maybe because that is because the levels are really hot (but next to no distortion!) and it makes for a ridiculously electric sounding show. It’s like, man, I am here, my ears are melting and my mind is blowing! Way better than the previously circulating high gen tape, this is from the master reels and it shows. • Aud 7.8 - Big hall sound, slight boominess but excellent as far as this kind of recording goes.
  • Audience 8.2 - This is not the source used on Massed Gadgets, and ranks similar although each source features slight differences which are up to the listener to decide which they prefer. This source has more in the higher frequencies, but consequently slightly more hiss. It’s still very decent.
  • Audience 8.9 - This sounds WAY much better than I remember it sounding, but then I first heard this show about 25 years ago so I guess it’s quite possibly a new source or an amazing remastering. Either way, this is certainly VERY worthy of appearing in your collection as it captures that open air festival vibe, and the band…Gilmour is inspired as his solos pierce the air with ferocity and guile. Bass sounds right on point here, and drums are perfectly balanced and placed in the mix just behind the others so to give those sounds center stage. Keys are much more present during the quieter passages, but they have a nice feel to them. All in all, this is great great great stuff.
