• From the ashes of the Moving Sidewalks, former members Tom Moore and Dan Mitchell decided to carry on playing the blues once Billy Gibbons formed ZZ Top and was doing straight up Texas style blues rock. Featuring Hammond B3 organ, the band had a different approach to blues rock but executed with the same kind of unique Texas panache. A single 7" was released but the band recorded quite a bit of material which never saw the light of day. This CD gathers most of those recordings along with a disc full of rare live tracks, of which include Ottis Coleman (Honest John, 1900 Storm, Texas Blend) replacing Tom Moore and Dusty Wakeman (bass) who also happened to be in The Barons and engineered the Honest John album in 1975.
  • Hard rock group from Houston active during the mid 70's and were primarily known as a covers band, playing many of the well known clubs in town. They recorded a handful of original songs in 1975, and disbanded following some unfortunate incidents while on the road. A single 7" record was released, however, and gained enough traction that rhythm guitarist Jimmy Lee Dean decided to continue on and recruit new members (the era known as Jeremiah MK II). This version of the band recorded a full length LP which never saw the light of day as the manager absconded with the master reels soon after the sessions, and nobody heard from him since. Eventually, we rediscovered these masters and attempted to transfer them in the studio but the tapes had severely degraded, the material, such as it is, is also contained on this collection. A 40th Anniversary reunion concert occurred in 2014, and excerpts from that show are included on the 2nd disc. All known recordings of this band are included in this package.
  • The Houston Punk/Grunge rock scene of the late 80's and early 90's produced a very diverse and highly talented assortment of bands spawned inside the 610 Loop surrounding the downtown metroplex. Chief among those was a ferocious punk rock (or better, "Burly Pig Rock") band called SPUNK. Fronted by Tod Waters, a mercurial character with non-stop energy, talent, and bravado who to this day still creates dynamic rock and roll (as evidenced by the newest release of his current band DIE FAST). This new release features a pair of never before available soundboard recordings from the downstairs room at the legendary Fitzgerald's Club.

  • Audience 8.7 - A new re-mastering has taken what was once a very muddy recording and breathed significant new life into it. I mean, if ever there was a time to be collecting it is right now. So while it still might be considered as an average audience recording, the fact is that there is much more in this tape than what was once believed and which is why it flew under the Sabbath collector radar. But it's actually pretty good, I can only be a little critical if I analyze what is happening at the lower end here, not much definition and guitar blends into the bass somewhat and provide a volume backdrop that is "dark" and foreboding but not a mess either. I think people should give this re-mastered version a chance, I did and I am very glad I did. Black Sabbath 1971-01-18 City Hall Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, UK 01. Paranoid 02. N.I.B. 03. War Pigs 04. • Audience 9.3 - Excellent quality, in fact I think this is a professional recording done on or very close to the stage. It has certain tell-tale qualities, like there being minimal audience noise and very clear, well-balanced band. Good mix here, even without Duane present I think most listeners will find this most welcome especially considering two songs are played featuring Johnny Winter.   THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND Hollywood Bowl Hollywood, CA August 6, 1972 1. • Audience 8.7 - A somewhat crude tape that manages to still present some meat you can savor. The slightly overloaded tape can still allow everything to be heard although drums are not very distinct (cymbal washes do clear the mix because they sit in the high band range) and neither are the vocals - but here's the saving grace: The guitar is present and accounted for and you really NEED that with this band because this guy is phenomenal. • Soundboard 9.0 - A VERY animated and live sounding recording. There is nothing sterile about this! It bristles with electric mayhem and tension, sometimes it goes a little over the edge (takes a minute for the mix to even out a little bit - and it seems to lean slightly onto upper mid/high end leaves some of the balls of the bass out, but there's enough meat here to add some bass and I think once you do that you'll have a real banger with this one. It's already great, but I'd certainly season it to taste. • Radio Broadcast 9.4 - Perhaps one of the best live documents in existence, even if there are marginally better sounding shows out there (although this one is killer), this tops it for exuberance and swagger. • Audience 8.7 - A little subdued maybe, but all the instrumentation is clearly heard, and dynamically it resides in the middle band frequencies and has a decent bass response but at the expense of maybe guitars which seem to sit just behind the bass. Considering the gig (inside a prison) I have to say it's a very good job, and worthy of a spin. ULI JON ROTH Klingelpuetz Prison Cologne, Germany 1979-10-03 2nd Show 01. Sundown 02. Earthquake 03.
