Audience 8.6 - The first thing you want to do when you begin to play this is skip the first song. The taper is bustling around trying to get into his seat, the tape deck microphone is buried deep within his clothing and the sound mix on stage is still being dialed in...all told this track is unlistenable. What happens next is miraculous - the sun begins to shine in the darkness! We now have a recording to enjoy, and it is enjoyable. It's not Randy, but look, what was asked of Bernie was impossible and he did a remarkable job filling in while they searched for a permanent replacement. I admire Bernie Torme and do not ignore the live recordings of him with Ozzy (not many are very good unfortunately). This is one of the better sounding tapes out there from this period. Audience 8.8 - A recording where the audience does get some attention but not in an obnoxious way, just in an enthusiastic way which sometimes adds to the excitement...but for some it might be a distraction. I didn't mind it, there really wasn't a particular audience member who yelled stupidly right into the mic. Thankfully the band is pretty reasonably clear, most of the time. I think there is room in your collection for this one, which won't be the best Animals show, but it certainly won't be the worst. Motorhead Live in Lisboa! Right on the first song the band sent the power down! The played too loud – too fuckin loud that the made the life of the soundboard guys a nightmare! Apart from the initial technical issues, the show went on good (and Loud!). A hard-to-find recording nowadays! Brought here be the man who made the sound himself! And to this day can’t forget how fuckin loud the band played! -
Audience 8.6 - Starts off a bit dodgy but gets better. Vocals are up front in the mix but still "round" and by that I mean not clearly defined to where you can make out the words. Drums are probably the clearest instrument in this recording and they propel the music forward with gusto. Guitars are raucous and as dirty as you want them, and the overall recording is a bit dirty too coming from the crowd where you get a great sense of being there with them. This is a recording that is worth sticking with because by the third or fourth song in you can really start to appreciate it because it does seem as though everything gets just a little bit clearer and more distinct (you can really tell during Over The Top). Audience 8.7 - I can imagine the difficulty in trying to capture something like this with all of the challenges not least of which is sheer volume and venues not ideal for the kind of acoustics metal presents. Does that mean this recording is bad? No, it's obviously done on gear that can handle the job, but to my ears it's something that you will need at least two songs to adjust, but once you do, it becomes the kind of tape that finds you sort of hanging on to see what happens next. SDBRD 9.5 - both of these gigs are spectacular, for me they represent an all too brief high water mark for the band where things are unbelievably tight and incomprehensibly cosmic. Audience 8.8 - A show new to circulation, it presents a severely under represented period of the band. Not too many tapes have surfaced (and no known videos) so whatever we can get, we appreciate. Here, taper did an admiral job even though he's clearly immersed in a boisterous audience. There is plenty of audience present, but thankfully what you get most of is a relatively clear and atmospheric ELO on a great night. There is a touch of overcrowding within the mid-range frequency, but nothing that distorts so there's zero muddiness and maybe less low end that you might prefer. Audience 8.9 - what a show! Yes, you will get knocked around down in the pit with the fans, yes you will hear the sounds of incredibly excited fans, and yes, the will feel absolutely like you are right there. The thing is, when you realize someone went through a bit of trouble to do this it just makes such a difference as you listen and understand this is a live, frenzied atmosphere with a very loud rock and roll band right in front of you. Audience 9.1 - Nothing to complain about here, the bass is clear and not boomy, guitars maybe not as up front and defined as you would prefer (the benefit of a soundboard tape) but it's present and fine for all intents and purposes. Audience 9.5 - a legendary recording that has been carefully treated by sensitive ears not wanting to revise history but to bring out every possible nuance, and succeeding. One to have for sure. The second show is also great, ranking a solid 9.2 but also well worth diving into.

Audience 9.0 - Great document! Live, exciting, forceful and driving. This is a great find! It does have the tell-tale audience tape feel but for how well the bass sounds because if it was done on cassette, it had to be a professional deck, so I am inclined to believe this was done on reel to reel.
