Audience 8.9 - This tape gets the nod for being a well-captured piece of music at a time when music was seeing significant change. One of those change bands, beginning in the 2nd half of the 70's, was Talking Heads and they remained at the forefront for quite a few years. This tape shows why...it's got a very realistic feel to it and the band sounds confident. Soundboard 10 - This is a rare "10" perfection rating that is not given out unless and until a recording stops you dead in your tracks and commands your undivided attention. You know it when you hear it, and this is about as good as it can get short of you being placed in the optimal spot at the venue and even then you may not be getting something as good as this! Soundboard 9.4 - Great recording that gives you stunning detail and clarity with guitar, but here the bass sounds round and brassy and complements the guitar sound. In this mix, drums are also very tight, and the fact that the keyboards are panned to one side while guitar occupies the other really allows for an amazing separation of instruments, cohesive because it is expertly mixed but enough room between to allow the ears to focus on any one particular instrument (but I bet you'll not be able to block Ritchie out because he's living up to all the hype and then some in this one). Audience 8.7 - Better than average, the tape has dynamics to it and even if vocals sound somewhat distant, the bass and guitar have a nice attack with the low end having that chest pounding quality which adds a lot to the electrifying atmospherics. Rory is particularly savage, playing what is probably a really wild crowd since it is where he is from. The performance is worth the entrance fee, the sound quality is good enough to warrant extended engagement. Full disclosure: There is some tape hiss present although it only becomes obvious when the band is not playing. Barbara Pennington was the singer of the Houston underground rock band TEMPEST (Three albums released since 1975). This single predates their 1st album, and was recorded with the pre-Tempest band BEOWULF, later known as TEMPEST. Zoom in on the images to see condition. Vinyl is EXCELLENT If you need more information just reach out to me and I will provide it. Prices reflect the value, I am not inflating worth, it's all based on looking at Ebay, Discogs, and sometimes Popsike. I am open to offers if they are reasonable and you are wanting other items...it's all factored into the equation but your best bet is to take advantage of coupons when they are offered.

Audience 8.8 - It's kind of a good thing that this concert is performed acoustically because the way this taper captured it I can't imagine an electric guitar, bass, and drums with the massive volume it would have been. That is because this sounds like taper was very close, and the hall acoustics are very "live", so, in essence because it is acoustic it isn't a loud, distorted mess...but could easily have been if this was any louder or closer to the stage. It's just at the breaking point volume wise, and there's the slightest touch of distortion affecting one frequency somewhere in the upper mid-range, this came close to being a problem but is thankfully kept at bay and never rose above the level of "minor annoyance" so all-in-all this becomes quite a keepsake memory for fans as it is a highly unusual type of gig.

Audience 9.4 - Well done, a consistent and even quality, captures the feel of the venue and since the equipment used seems to be very high quality, it allowed for plenty of headroom in the recording and that allows the listener to adjust volume and EQ to suit their tastes...not that it needs much. Audience 9.2 - The first thing that hit me with this recording is the lovely feel of it, silky and round with a solid "thwack" of the kick drum to make you remember what it's like to stand in front of the mains at a stadium rock show. Studio Quality 9.8 - Fantastic insight into the working progress of a masterpiece album. One thing that stood out for me was listening to the drums, they aren't exactly going to be the biggest takeaway when considering the performance as a whole but when they are dissected and highlighted you really understand the craft that goes into it. Let's put it this way - the drums aren't just being banged upon, they are being played. Audience 9.4 - A delightful and warm atmosphere highlight this bright and well mixed concert recording. I struggled to find any reason to criticize it, but there are some occasional voices behind taper, and that is REALLY nitpicky. So, this is certainly a treasure of a recording and I highly recommend it.
