Audience 8.8 - Very exciting club shows recorded in a way that makes you wonder if the band themselves did not have it done. It is very clear, the only knock I give it is maybe the passage of time took away some of the brilliance, and/or it’s not a first gen tape…but it’s really good! Soundboard 9.0, Soundboard 9.5, Audience 7.6 - In this collection you have two excellent board tapes and one mediocre audience tape that you probably will not listen to as much as the first two discs. That is not to say the tape was not worth inclusion, but more that it was included for the sake of context since you can hear the band progressing through the years with the material. Audience 9.3 - A great, very lively and sharp recording. I love the mix here too, drums are prominent without being boomy, guitars are complimentary and tuneful. This is a really fun hour of listening pleasure and will get repeat plays in your player for sure. The inclusion of Prince on two songs is just the icing on the cake.

Studio Quality 9.7 - A great collection of exciting tracks that for me were very illuminating because I never really took the time to listen to this band back in the day. Now, well it's pretty clear they were great and now I am fully engrossed in their works and this set delivers plenty.

Soundboard 8.8 - This is a revelation. I had this tape for years and it was marred by annoying distortion in the low frequencies. This remaster cures a lot of that, and consequently you get a much more enjoyable and fun experience out of this show. You have to appreciate this band, when back in the day we rebelled against it because we hung onto our Rush, Zeppelin, Floyd and Van Halen but this music is a nod and a wink to the 60’s garage groups, just done in a ‘modern” setting. Kudos to The B52’s for having originality and humor too. Luv it.
-
Soundboard?? 9.8 - Hard to tell if it is pro audience or soundboard because, for one thing, it is SUPERB in every respect but the audience is clearly recorded during the end of each song which it would not be if it were a pure sdbrd. That being said, the only other thing it could be is a professional, over the air broadcast, but there is none of the typical radio compression on the tape if that is the case. This is absolutely phenomenal.

Audience 8.7 - There are more recordings of this band pre-1983 that post, which I find rather odd. I found this recordings to be adequate to hear what they were like in 1983, and they were good, but the recording does not highlight the vocals, rather on guitar and drums which is fine but I love this band’s vocal acrobatics and want them front and center. Audience 8.0 - A utilitarian tape that captures the action on stage where you clearly get each instrument without much separation or dynamics. The selling point of this show is the set list, some seldom performed numbers including Crossroads which is played with aplomb. Energetic, fresh, all that without any hiccups but lacking clarity and dynamic range.
