Audience 8.4 - A little lo-fi here but guitar is up front followed by drums which you can hear well. Some tape hiss present, bass is in a good place not too boomy and complements the guitar sound well. Leslie is playing more fluid here, probably because RCMH is known for good acoustics so he must have had good feedback. Crowd is on his side, he owned New York without a doubt. I feel like this recording would benefit greatly from a good re-mastering, hiss reduction, etc. because it has a decent enough sonic foundation. Audience 8.7 - A new tape discovery and it is a good one, although not without some bumps and bruises. The tape is incomplete, missing at least the last 1/3 of the show (if judging by similar set lists from the time). The taper is close, and the sound is raw, powerful, and clear. The first few minutes are bumpy, but the tape smooths out for the majority of the show. The band is firing on all cylinders, much like the following month’s Texas Pop Festival performance. A great find! Soundboard 8.8 - This tape shows some signs of age but it is holding its own and is strong in many aspects. The only thing that prevents the higher rating is that there is some “dirt” present, what I mean is just some extracurricular noise present in the mid band, nothing that destroys any enjoyment at all – it is a strong tape as I said, but for a soundboard you expect purity and this one is not pure. Still, I think the setlist answers the question “should I”?  Yes. You should. This is a kick ass show and the Zeppelin covers just put it over the top. Heart Waukegan, IL. Audience 8.4 - The same taping crew that did the Ozzy Osbourne, and it sounds very similar but maybe a touch clearer. It’s a pretty good effort, especially when you consider the year, and what I mean is that the tape recording equipment used during most of the 80’s did not usually produce anything to write home about. Soundboard 9.0 - Interesting hearing this line up in such clarity,  it certainly allows you to make a better judgment on the music, which by the way is pretty damn good. It’s different, in some ways, but it is still very good. My advice is not to go into it thinking you are getting Black Sabbath – rather consider it a Tony Iommi side project, then it makes more sense and will grab you in a better way.
