• Soundboard 9.7 - Superb! Obviously you know this was going to be recorded professionally, and it certainly shows with immaculate clarity and incredible mix (had to be a tough gig to mix!). • Audience 7.7 - Ever wonder what the opening act was like?  OK, so this is a great example of that – a band that opened for Jethro Tull in 1970 and someone recorded them. Are they good?  They are very competent and it’s easy to see why they got the slot. The recording is kind of one-dimensional but sufficient to allow you to hear it all, with clarity, just not a lot of dynamics. This is probably the only existing live recording of them so it’s worth grabbing.
  • Soundboard 9.0 - A large, open air festival “board” tape which probably uses some open stage micing. I would venture to guess this must have been a difficult show to control, and a recording made with an eye for a broadcast that they fought with every step of the way. That said, it’s pretty good stuff under all the circumstances. COLOSSEUM Ruisrock Festival Turku, Finland August 22nd 1970 01 - Rope Ladder To The Moon (10:28) 02 - The Machine Demands A Sacrifice > Drum Solo (cuts) (10:54) 03 - Downhill And Shadows (12:11) 04 - Lost Angeles (11:29) 05 - Walking in the Park (6:12) Lineup: Dick Heckstall Smith: sax John Hiseman: drums Dave " Clem" Clempson: guitar Dave Greenslade. keyboards, vibes Tony Reeves : bass Chris Farlowe : vocals
  • Audience  8.2 A little bit of cluttering in the middle but otherwise fine stuff. Worth a listen or two, as the band has chops aplenty!
  • CD 1 - Soundboard  8.9 - Very strong for this period, the sound, the playing, all great. CD 2 - Soundboard  9.2 - Fantastic stuff, a great airy recording with a good mix that has drums stereo panned even!
  • This originated from Mexico and is progressive rock but I do not know the year it was issued.  Brand New - Sealed
  • Audience  8.4 Clear if a bit distant, and levels kind of low. But it’s a recording you can turn up and add just about anything to it to flavor the sound – it’s a great pallet to paint upon.
  • Soundboard 9.3 - Fantastic! Now I was not familiar with this band, but I must say, it’s pretty good musically with emphasis on their white-hot lead guitarist. The songs aren’t anything super duper, and their singer isn’t sensational either, but in combination all this works together to become a little more than the individual parts. I like this guitar! I already made that point but it’s worth repeating. • Hard driving Dallas rock band that worked all the clubs back in the day (1972-1975) before changing their name to Brat and slowly moving into a different direction. Featuring the guitar pyrotechnics of Dickey Ferguson, who found a measure of success much later during his stint in US Kids.
  • CRAIG CHAQUICO - Autographed - Once in a Blue Universe 1997  (Higher Octave Music)
  • FM Broadcast 9.5 - Even though this is excellent broadcast quality, there are some moments where the sound kind of briefly drops in level perhaps due to inconsistencies with the venue P.A. system (that is to say, the sound man has to quickly lower or raise the master volume on occasion) but it doesn’t hurt this show a bit. • Audience  8.5 A tape that has been much celebrated over the years, which has also been through the hands of many a fine engineer, bringing out the best of the old tape (and fixing a lot of errors along the way too). Now, here we are decades after the event and it sounds fresh and exciting…still.

  • Audience  6.9 Get ready for mass volume, shocking that the tape does not distort! You want guitar?... good because that is what you get the most of from this show – then Ginger and then vocals.
  • Audience  7.2 - 7.6 During the quite (or less loud I should say) portions, this tape shines. At full throttle, there’s a bandwidth issue with this tape, meaning the music is too much for the narrow bandwidth of the cassette to contain. That being said, there’s no distortion, miraculously – and despite the massive volume you still get a reasonable clearness of the music. If it was just a little more distinct, this could be one of those “feels like your there” tapes.
  • Audience  7.8 Spectacular 67 gig this one! First, the excellent set list featuring some songs rarely, if ever before, played live. Second, a good, solid immediate sound to this tape. No, it is not perfect, it is very loud (no distortion) but man it is electric in every sense. Guitar is KILLER, the sound and the playing. Very very interesting show and one to get!
  • Pro Made non factory pressed compact disc housed in single pocket gate fold jacket with full laser printed graphics front, back, inside, discs, and spine.
  • SDBRD 9.2 - Would be rated even higher but for the fact that vocals are non-existent in this mix. Well, if you care about the lyrics, get a lyric sheet – meanwhile, the music is fine with a guitar clinic being put on by Clapton. Later in the set, the sound switches over to an audience recording (7.2) and the vocals and bass return. The main difference between this one and the one already listed here is that this is just the Tulip Bulb Auction Hall show without additional material (date here is correct) and different, I would say better, artwork.

  • Soundboard  9.7 Clearly this is one of those “sounds like you are there” tapes. It’s so good I would recommend it to newbies as a good introduction to the band.
  • Soundboard  9.2 Would be rated even higher but for the fact that vocals are non-existent in this mix. Well, if you care about the lyrics, you best get a lyric sheet – meanwhile, the music is fine with a guitar clinic being put on by Clapton. Later in the set, the sound switches over to an audience recording (7.2) and the vocals and bass return.

  • Audience  8.9 Wow, this is what it's all about. This is too much, if you know the history, the scene, the time and place, it’s almost depressing because you know this just could not and will not ever happen again. How could it? So thankful this was taped, and it’s VERY good!
  • Audience 8.6 - Legendary band that sadly ended up being one of those acts that people still talk about when discussing music industry fuck jobs. This recording is good enough for the listener to hear everyone on stage. It’s not going to give you a broad spectrum throughout the frequencies due to the limitations of the cassette recorder but my goodness the energy does come through! It’s a decent recording, it’s well worthy of being in a collection and I for one could not stop listening to it once I pressed “play” because it rocks! • Studio quality 8.8 - A somewhat dated sound here, but clear and clean and straightforward. CCR were very song based as a band but man, they can also free-form jam with the best of them.
