• Soundboard 9.3 - mAn excellent document by all accounts!  What you get is a lot of superb musical skill wrapped up in a fine sounding, good looking presentation. • Audience 8.6-8.8 - A tape that begins inauspiciously as a pretty good but distant tape. Slowly, it begins to blossom into something much more intriguing. Taper smuggled very good equipment into the venue, that much is obvious, and he worked at getting into a better position during the show until what you end up with is a very tasty audience recording. Kudos to the taper! • Audience 9.2 - Surprisingly clear and vibrant..and very live sounding with LOADS of that atmosphere, you know, where you can hear people taking a huge toke and hacking immediately after. This was the last show of 1974 for Van Morrison, and he threw out a few rarely played numbers. • Audience 9.2 - What immediately strikes you about this recording is that Rick Wright’s synth sounds and effects are NOT window dressing! In fact, they are almost overwhelmingly loud at times during the concert. Now, what I like most about old recordings is when they reveal something to me I never knew – in this case I did not know or appreciate how much Rick’s work, however consequential during the song, was not mixed out or down by any stretch but you might think that judging on the myriad hundreds of tapes that exist that do not give you a true appreciation of the volume.  This tape is insistent, relentless, and thankfully clear and dynamic. The middle and upper midrange is sometimes almost too much but never does it distort. Get ready for a front row earschplittenloudenboomer! • Audience 8.8 - Surprisingly good and clear! I get fine separation of instruments as well, hearing back up vocals, all guitars and drums in a good position and bass is there, not super defined and not boomy but there. Well done taper!  Oh, and the performance is unbelievable. Meat Loaf 1978-06-08 Paris - Theatre Mogador Disc 1 01. Great Boleros Of Fire 02. Bat Out Of Hell 03. • Audience 8.9 - It’s amazing how tapes still pop up after so many years and sound like they were recorded yesterday. This is one such tape. The music also holds up, and since I never saw Elton John live I am still impressed with how much the guitar factors in to this show.  I enjoyed this performance and I felt the excitement of the crowd and felt totally transported which is the hallmark of a well-done recording. • Audience 9.3 - This show rates highly in the audio department because of how the guitars sound and I am a guitar guy so there is some bias…but it doesn’t matter what I like because it’s just a great recording all around. The sound envelopes you, it’s a completely immersive type of recording and will suck you in immediately. What a great find this is! • Audience 9.0 - Rowdy, exciting, electric, and just a ton of fun! A good and crisp recording that feels nice on your ears. No offending frequencies, bass is round and brassy, vocals are well placed and enunciation is clear. A nice one! • Audience 9.5 - Brilliant recording in every respect, and one that I dare say rivals a lot of board tapes in dynamics and presence (definitely beats most boards in the presence dept.). Is that heresy? I don’t care if it is, I would take a tape like this over a board tape every time. • Audience 8.8 - The sound on this gets progressively better during the 1st song to the end due to the sound engineer dialing in the mix. Once it is set, the show cooks. This is a beginning to end recording, meaning you get every little moment of this evening, practically just travelling back in time to the evening of the gig then sitting in the crowd as the band does their thing. • Minden 1973 Audience 8.8 - One of the earliest concert recordings ever sourced! It sounds very good, decent equipment used, and maybe placed a little back in the club but otherwise it’s a lot better than it has a right to be. The band certainly evolved quite a bit from these early club days, but the character of the band never did. Fascinating document! Minden 1974 Audience 9.4 - What a difference a year makes, as the band return to the same club a year later and wreck the place!  Extremely tasty, the recording does the band justice as it literally just leaps out of the speakers with maximum ferocity while retaining enough detail and depth to let you sit and listen in total awe. • Audience 8.8 - Very exciting club shows recorded in a way that makes you wonder if the band themselves did not have it done. It is very clear, the only knock I give it is maybe the passage of time took away some of the brilliance, and/or it’s not a first gen tape…but it’s really good! • Audience 8.7 - Even though this recording does not feature a full and rounded spectrum of lows to high, it is very clear and resides mostly in the middle range EQ-wise. So, it’s most welcome to lovers of VDGG because there’s just not a whole lot of high quality recordings out there. • Audience 8.9 - By ’73 audiences had realized King Crimson was not a typical “rock” band and this recording captures the experience of a group of people seeing and hearing something entirely unlike your basic rock concert. The taper was well positioned and used very good gear, and this source sounds very much like either 1st gen or master it is quiet (although just the faintest bit of tape noise) and has captured the ambience and mood of the gig which is nice. Both shows are represented, what a fine document this is!
