• Minden 1973 Audience 8.8 - One of the earliest concert recordings ever sourced! It sounds very good, decent equipment used, and maybe placed a little back in the club but otherwise it’s a lot better than it has a right to be. The band certainly evolved quite a bit from these early club days, but the character of the band never did. Fascinating document! Minden 1974 Audience 9.4 - What a difference a year makes, as the band return to the same club a year later and wreck the place!  Extremely tasty, the recording does the band justice as it literally just leaps out of the speakers with maximum ferocity while retaining enough detail and depth to let you sit and listen in total awe. Fucking hell this is good! • Audience 8.8 - Very exciting club shows recorded in a way that makes you wonder if the band themselves did not have it done. It is very clear, the only knock I give it is maybe the passage of time took away some of the brilliance, and/or it’s not a first gen tape…but it’s really good! • Audience 8.7 - Even though this recording does not feature a full and rounded spectrum of lows to high, it is very clear and resides mostly in the middle range EQ-wise. So, it’s most welcome to lovers of VDGG because there’s just not a whole lot of high quality recordings out there. This one is one of those that grows on you and sounds better and better the more you listen…get it! • Audience 8.9 - By ’73 audiences had realized King Crimson was not a typical “rock” band and this recording captures the experience of a group of people seeing and hearing something entirely unlike your basic rock concert. The taper was well positioned and used very good gear, and this source sounds very much like either 1st gen or master it is quiet (although just the faintest bit of tape noise) and has captured the ambience and mood of the gig which is nice. Both shows are represented, what a fine document this is! • Audience 9.0 - Solid job by taper to record from a good spot where the sound mix is great, and using good gear he gave us a document that you will be enjoying and playing more than once. The band is in high spirits and put on a good “rock show”. Lovely! Wings Olympia Stadium Detroit, MI 1976-05-08 Disc 1 01. Intro 02. Venus And Mars 03. Rock Show 04. Jet 05. Let Me Roll It 06. • Audience 8.8 - This recording is nice and clear, and on the “bright” side of the audio spectrum which is actually very good for those who wish to season the sound  with EQ. You can add some low end here and it would make a world of difference because the sound is already good, so anything that can help it is only going to make it even better rather than overdone. Sometimes loud rock concerts in large venues have a low end rumble that makes adding anything to it a risky proposition – this one screams “please add some low end to me”!  A great one to personalize, the palate is free to embellish upon. • Soundboard 8.8 - The audio is excellent soundboard but the mix leaves out most bottom end, although the bassist is there I can hear him sometimes! Is the recording trebly and thin? Nope. It’s a good recording, with everything you really came to hear which is guitar…and of that there is plenty. Ducking, diving, turning around on a dime, vibrating, electric and fun. I can highly recommend this even if the bass is…where’s the bass?  More Bass Please ha ha!  Still excellent, still worthwhile. • Audience 9.0 - Recorded in the middle of a whole lot of fun but retains a nice focus on the music throughout. When you listen, you begin to fully kind of appreciate the aspects of an audience tape that soundboards simply don’t provide – there’s an immersive quality to it, as long as the audio fidelity is good you can relive the concert through the taper and his position in the audience. • Audience 9.1 - A very very nice taping effort, captured here with very decent gear so the quality speaks for itself. Position of taper is good, so a nice mix of the sound from the PA, all in all it’s a good one and highly recommended. • Audience 9.7 - There’s no way this isn’t a professional recording, it’s too good and it doesn’t come across as a board tape but it could be, if they used some ambient mics and mixed that in but either way this is simply spectacular. If you are wondering how Eddie must sound now with so many years removed from grunge I have news for you – he sounds as good as ever and his band is great, and the songs he performs in his set are all great. • Soundboard/Audience matrix 9.5 - Here you have a recording that does both of the things you want in a live concert experience – clarity and punch via soundboard and ambience, immersion, electricity of the audience. The audience recording being blended in really adds to this experience, even when you hear excitable fans clapping nearby…it’s quite exhilarating really and this recording will eventually be hailed and revered by fans because…well, unfortunately because of the passing of Taylor Hawkins (RIP). • Soundboard 9.0 - Not a perfect board tape, there are some signs of age present but that does not really rise to the level of annoyance…it’s present but not to a huge degree. • Audience 8.7 - A surprisingly decent tape surfaces from Italy where Genesis found initial acceptance in the early part of their career. Sound is clear for the most part, and the timbre is pleasing to the ear…if I can knock it I would say maybe it is a bit compressed in the middle, so no crispness in the highs nor definition in the low end but it’s not the kind of compression that you get from, say, a video tape. It’s quite good like I said so feel secure if you get it knowing it will be worthwhile.
