  • New York 1975 Audience 8.3 - Not particularly clear, but recording does have some force behind it that propels the sound into your ears, making it slightly better than your average, or mediocre 70’s audience tape, and that is really good because this is a rare one – only 4 known to circulate recordings from the US Sheer Heart Attack tour. Hear the band just before they exploded! Santa Monica 1975 Audience 8.8 - A very good recording of the rarely captured US Sheer Heart Attack tour. • Audience 8.8 - This may not be a tape with good song separation or detail but it occupies a sonic range that is very comfortable on the ears. Usually when attending a very loud, bombastic heavy rock or metal concert you aren’t going to distinguish much anyway, you will basically hear a roaring sound…but this tape delivers a little more than just that. This is a good document and taper used good gear, sat in a good spot, and recorded everything. I would call this recording completely immersive, with a warm, inviting sound. • Audience 8.6-8.8 - A tape that begins inauspiciously as a pretty good but distant tape. Slowly, it begins to blossom into something much more intriguing. Taper smuggled very good equipment into the venue, that much is obvious, and he worked at getting into a better position during the show until what you end up with is a very tasty audience recording. THE WHO – 1980 Tour (14 CD Metal Canister)

Original price was: $95.00.Current price is: $80.00.
An absolute beast of a canister! Loaded down with 14 discs, it's quite the experience as you follow the Who on tour in the States in 1980. For the most part, all of the recordings reside in the mid to upper 8's on the 1-10 scale, with a couple coming in at over 9.0 (Essen, for instance). I found it to be very satisfying as all of the songs I enjoy hearing them play are represented, without the overindulgence into Tommy...finally! • Audience 9.2 - Surprisingly clear and vibrant..and very live sounding with LOADS of that atmosphere, you know, where you can hear people taking a huge toke and hacking immediately after. • Audience 8.8 - A very good recording here, and the atmospherics are plentiful. There’s a natural reverb going on that adds another dimension to this, and I mean that in a good way. Lovely! • Audience 9.2 - What immediately strikes you about this recording is that Rick Wright’s synth sounds and effects are NOT window dressing! In fact, they are almost overwhelmingly loud at times during the concert. Now, what I like most about old recordings is when they reveal something to me I never knew – in this case I did not know or appreciate how much Rick’s work, however consequential during the song, was not mixed out or down by any stretch but you might think that judging on the myriad hundreds of tapes that exist that do not give you a true appreciation of the volume.  This tape is insistent, relentless, and thankfully clear and dynamic. The middle and upper midrange is sometimes almost too much but never does it distort. Get ready for a front row earschplittenloudenboomer! • Radio Broadcast 9.3 - Some tape hiss but otherwise a beautiful full sounding set here. This music is glorious, it’s maybe not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s very heartfelt and genuine, delicate, contemplative, uplifting. Highly recommended! • Audience 8.8 - Surprisingly good and clear! I get fine separation of instruments as well, hearing back up vocals, all guitars and drums in a good position and bass is there, not super defined and not boomy but there. Well done taper!  Oh, and the performance is unbelievable. Meat Loaf 1978-06-08 Paris - Theatre Mogador Disc 1 01. Great Boleros Of Fire 02. Bat Out Of Hell 03. • Audience 8.9 - It’s amazing how tapes still pop up after so many years and sound like they were recorded yesterday. This is one such tape. The music also holds up, and since I never saw Elton John live I am still impressed with how much the guitar factors in to this show.  I enjoyed this performance and I felt the excitement of the crowd and felt totally transported which is the hallmark of a well-done recording. • Audience 9.3 - This show rates highly in the audio department because of how the guitars sound and I am a guitar guy so there is some bias…but it doesn’t matter what I like because it’s just a great recording all around. The sound envelopes you, it’s a completely immersive type of recording and will suck you in immediately. What a great find this is! • Audience 9.0 - Rowdy, exciting, electric, and just a ton of fun! A good and crisp recording that feels nice on your ears. • Soundboard 9.3 - A decent but kind of middle rangey sound, but in this case I like it because it gives the Kinks a more punkish sound. This material is also kind of punkish so the delivery and the sound of the recording itself convinces you that this band wanted to impart the punk attitude. Some of the songs are definitely not punkish but we know it’s not all encompassing, just generally I think The Kinks liked the punk ethos. I mean, they play a song called “Prince Of The Punks” so what does that tell you?
