  • Audience 9.1 - A lovely, intimate recording that belies the size of the venue. Of course, this was a different approach Elton John undertook on this tour. I think it works well, the bombast has been toned down and what you get instead is an examination of his music presented to you by the man…I think you will appreciate these songs in this way. • Audience 8.6 - This tape does not offer a wide dynamic range, but neither is it compressed sounding, so it’s not awful on the ears. The good thing about capturing a band like Genesis during live performances is that the PA and mix is usually good, and not a distorted metal mess, so even average gear can produce reasonably good results. • Audience 8.6 - This is a surprisingly decent sounding tape. I was not expecting it to be anything close to this good, quite frankly. Clarity is reasonable, it’s not a muddy tape, there is some dynamic to it without distortion (although bass is not well defined). The key components are all here though, and it’s a tape (and gig) that can be welcomed wholeheartedly by the punters. Led Zeppelin Musicarnival Warrensville Heights, OH July 20, 1969 01. • Soundboard 9.6 - A tight, expertly mixed board tape. I think how they mic’d this up to include audience was a great idea, it adds so much to this recording. Lou feeds off their excitement. • Soundboard 9.3 - An expertly recorded and mixed show. It’s hard to find anywhere to improve it, but maybe, and I am nitpicking here, but boosting the guitars in the mix a bit (disclaimer: I am a guitarist, I have bias!). • Studio Rehearsals 8.8 - Thankfully recorded on something other than a cheap boombox so the quality is there as far as being able to hear everything clear. Vocals are the only thing that does not ring out clearly, but other than that this is gold. This early Metallica is a far cry from what would be in just a few short years. METALLICA 1982.03.XX - Downey, CA Rehearsals in Ron McGovney's Garage 1. Hit the Lights 2. Helpless 3. Jump in the Fire 4. Let It Loose 5. Sucking My Love 6. Am I Evil? 7. The Prince 8. Killing Time Released in '94 via a collaboration between KNAC and Ron McGovney, a number of these demos were debuted during the CLASSIC and ORIGINAL Mandatory Metallica show on 105.5 KNAC. They did a whole week with Ron McGovney in the studio and some of these gems were played on the air. Pat O'Connor, one of the DJ's from the Mandatory show, had his hand in putting out numerous Silver Bootleg CD's and promptly released Sucking My Love between '94 and '95 and then released Things That Should Not Be in late '95. Always an interesting listen... they had a long way to go. Lineup: James Hetfield - Vocals (No Guitar) Dave Mustaine - Guitar Ron McGovney - Bass Lars Ulrich - Drums
  • Audience 9.2 - Good location, excellent equipment, focus, and a good PA system in the venue means only one thing – an excellent audience tape. This is really well done. • SDBRD 9.5 - Expertly recorded and of course this show is pure gold if you enjoy genuine American blues because the guys on stage are THE BLUES personified. • Pro SDBRD 9.5 - Recorded for broadcast this uses two different sources of the broadcast but you don’t really notice the transition. What you will notice is how amazing this is, and what makes it really cool is how much Peter addresses the audience. It’s an intimate feeling gig, everyone is so dialed in to what is happening in the room with Peter…imagine, no cell phones, no distracted idiots, just genuine love and appreciation for the performer and his craft. I miss that. • Audience 9.3 - This is the result of tapers who CARE about what they are doing to the point of using the best gear, for starters, seating in the best location, and using the utmost care to successfully capture the event…then having the prescience to preserve the result for future generations to enjoy. This is AWESOME in every way. Fuck man, if you can’t appreciate this recording, and this artist, just do us all a favor and find some other thing because music ain’t  it for you. Yes that is harsh, but you’ll understand once you’ve listened to this. • Audience 9.1 - Great sound and atmosphere, just as good as you want it to be. Some tape hiss present during quieter passages, which is being nitpicky though. This recording shines with just the right amount of headroom and the atmosphere is special as the crowd is LISTENING to every note you can clearly tell. Return To Forever Civic Auditorium Santa Monica, CA April 8, 1977 Disc 1 01 The Endless Night 02 The Musician 03 Hello Again 04 So Long Mickey Mouse 05 Musicmagic 06 Do You Ever Disc 2 07 Come Rain Or Shine 08 Serenade 09 The Moorish Warrior and the Spanish Princess 10 Spanish Fantasy 11 On Green Dolphin Street 12 Musicmagic (Reprise)
  • Pro 9.6 - Sharpness, precision, dynamic, and beautifully clear. A tiny amount of tape noise barely perceptible unless the room is silent and trust me, that is just me looking for something to be critical of…there are no faults with this recording. • Soundboard 9.4 - A terrific “live” sound and feel, it’s hard to tell even if it is a board tape because it just has too much “room” and atmosphere. It’s quite astonishing really, it’s a fantastic sound and mix, and feel, and of course there’s the band and their amazing material. What I can say is that you will love this and play it again…it is one of the best.
