• Audience 8.4 - Simply has to be one of the best audience tapes of the time. So, it isn’t perfect but I consider this to be a must have due to how clear, and really nice fat bottom end without boominess. Lovely!
  • Audience 9.3 - You could not ask for a better break than having this marathon ass kicking show recorded so well.
  • Cleveland 1978 Radio Broadcast 8.8 - A tape that shows signs of age and has that dated quality to it but is still good. It just sounds kinda, pimp and funky just like the music.New York 1981 Radio Broadcast 9.3 - A fresh sounding tape, and a rather fresh performance that does not showcase a drunken, sloppy ‘Dolls kinda gig but a much more focused and professional with plenty of edge to remind you who is fronting kinda gig.   • Audience 8.9 - A recording that seems to “rise above” the din because literally it sounds like the mic was over the crowd. It makes for a more immersive experience, and the fact that the dynamics are good and the sound is clear…well it just goes to prove once again that a well made audience tape is more than welcome in any real live music collection.

  • Audience  9.6 - Marvelous recording captures every nuance in pristine, clear, full quality.
  • Audience  7.3 -  Pretty clear with a bit of hall space that gives it some atmosphere. Enjoyable!
  • Audience 6.9 - Bowie clearly audible above the din. Not great separation of instruments, with some minor analog tape saturation at full volume.
  • Pro Studio and Live 9.0 - Consistent, with some obvious age related issues present on some cuts but overall pretty much in the pocket.
  • Soundboard  9.0 - Sounds kind of thin and compressed to me but it is perfectly clear being a modern sdbrd. Features songs with Nine Inch Nails, and a lot of good bonus material. All in all a very good CD!
  • Studio Quality 9.4 As expected, these are from studios sessions and having been remastered (to freshen the old tapes up), it sounds quite good. The material sounds a bit dated though, I mean I know it is Bowie but it’s probably not his best stuff in my opinion…some people like it though. David Bowie - Sigma Sound 1974   1. Young Americans [first take] 0:20. An incomplete version with no vocal. 2. Young Americans [second take] 2:57. An incomplete version which ends with David laughing after singing “President Nixon.” 3. Young Americans [third take] 5:40. A complete version with slight lyrical differences to the finished version. 4. Shilling The Rubes 5:09. Complete version. Towards the end of the song David says, “That’s going to be very nice when it’s got its hat on!” 5. I’m A Laser (The Gouster) 6:09. Complete version. 6. After Today 4:42. Complete version but played at a much faster tempo than the version released by Ryko in 1989. 7. Sweet Thing 4:43 (Ava Cherry on lead vocals). All tracks recorded on 13 Aug 1974 except track 7 which was recorded on 9 Jul 1974.  
  • Soundboard 8.9 - A good one, if slightly below the expectations of perfection you might be anticipating with a mid 70’s board tape. Occasional phasing, and sometimes a little volume fading as the sound man adjusts things on the fly but it’s greatness is derived from the spectacularly cohesive performance by all the musicians and the sometimes disparagingly different styles they run through in the set.
  • Audience  7.8 - Excitement is the order of the day, you can literally feel it. The recording can be praised for effectively capturing a really on performance at a famous venue at the best time of Bowie’s career (some would say).
  • Audience 8.8 One of the better sounding tapes from this period, and what’s notable about this show is the live debut of six songs from Aladdin Sane (predating the actual release of the album). About the sound – the live mix does not favor the vocals much, although audible and not murky they are not front and center – but guitar most certainly is and hurrah for that!
