• CD 1 - Soundboard 9.0  /  CD 2 - Soundboard 8.8
  • Audience 8.6 - In contrast to the Finland show, this one doesn't have the boominess but it is thinner sounding, however it is very clear and Kay is much more audible. Guitar, drums, and vocals very clear albeit thin. I found the bass to be lovely, round, very cool to hear such detail! This is NOT a muddy recording, and being 1970 that means you get the classic songs performed close to the records. Steppenwolf University Of Maine Portland Campus Gym Portland, Maine February 28th, 1970 1. Intro-Sookie Sookie 2. Don't Step On The Grass, Sam 3. From Here To There Eventually 4. Magic Carpet Ride 5. The Pusher 6. Born To Be Wild
  • Audience 8.6 - A good stereo pan presents for an interesting listen. The tape sounds like it went through some processing to my ears, yet retains a strange immediacy, like it was just recorded the other day.
  • CD 1 - Audience 7.4 - A much better source tape here for this show, sounds a lot better than I remember it being. It’s still somewhat thin, but the bass guitar is very clear note-wise, just do not expect slamming bottom end. The second show on CD 1 is Soundboard 9.4 - Superb! CD 2 - Audience 7.4 - Similar to the Portland show, with more emphasis on drums, less clarity in the total mix- but heavier low end. CD 3 - All Radio Broadcast 8.8
  • Audience 9.1  -A great show and a great capture here. Highly recommend this one!

  • Audience 9.0 - Professional audience tape recorded on reel to reel, very lively, vibrant sound.
  • Audience 9.4 - Let me say straight away that this is a MUST for anyone who digs Steve Miller Band…and even if you don’t. This is fantastic! Great, and I mean GREAT live atmosphere that totally puts you in the moment. A real treat for the music enthusiast and collector – even the guys who swear they won’t listen to any audience tapes. Soundboard 9.7 - I love the way they recorded the vocals, it has a very cool quality to it, such that it lends that sort of electric spark to the proceedings. This is very energetic set by the band.
  • Soundboard 8.7 - Sounds like it comes from a video source, with some of that compression factor present. For such a major stadium act, there are surprisingly few tapes out there of him.
  • Fillmore East 1970 Soundboard 8.8 - Clear although not bristling with perfection is a very good early period SMB recording Honolulu 1970 Soundboard 8.8 - A tape that needs one song to dial in the live mix but then gets much better. Still, it’s very good but not sparkling and bright…just good enough to rank pretty high in the category of the formative Steve Miller anthology of concert tapes. San Rafael 1970 Soundboard 9.1 - This is a really nice recording that exemplifies why it is so cool to hear tapes of an artists’ earlier career works before they made it to the big time. This certainly shows the vulnerability and the possibility at the same time. An artist who is still not 100% convincing but clearly has the tool set necessary to advance…and advance he did! • Soundboard 8.8 - Somewhat dated sound, and a touch of hiss, but by golly this is pretty good stuff considering the age! For those who thought Steve Miller began with Fly Like An Eagle, you may want to hear the raw bluesy psychedelia he was rooted in.

Soundboard 9.7 - A pre FM master was used and it clearly magnitudes better than what you’d get recording off the radio!
  • Pro Broadcast 9.3 - Excellent quality!
  • Audience 9.6 - This venue has always been very acoustically prime for capturing from the audience. There is great atmosphere, the kind that not only adds feeling to the recording but also the kind that inspires the artist. This tape showcases everything one looks for in a sound recording.
