  • Soundboard 9.3 - For my first exposure to a live Buzzcocks show, this was a splendid one!  The recording captures the energy and the excellent, gritty, and I would even say cocky guitar tone. Can a guitar tone be “cocky”?  Yes, I think it can because this guy’s tone is just that! Buzzcocks The Palladium New York 1979 01. I Don't MInd 02. Autonomy 03. • Audience 9.1 - Not much I can find to complain about with this recording. I mean, I could ask for something even better but I would need a time machine…so I am going to settle for this tape! • Soundboard 9.5 - A great recording, with an occasional stumble caused by the soundman trying to balance things and tweaking a mic too much getting feedback but thankfully only here and there. Gordon gets a little annoyed at it too, but he’s a real pro and it shows. I get the feeling that although some of his music may have been familiar to some in the audience, he probably did not relate so much to the hippy generation. • Audience 8.7 - A show I remember listening to as a teenager having bought the 3LP bootleg which was referred to as Offenbach. This sounds pretty close to that boot, maybe a touch better coming from a tape source, which means it’s pretty decent. • Audience 9.3 - A good, dynamic recording that deserves the high rating without question. The show is good, Prince sounds engaged and the band is on point. • FM Broadcast 8.8 -  A radio broadcast that was captured to cassette. I'd almost call it an audience recording because it’s kind of got that same sort of feel except for the vocals and the bass as they have this quality to it that reminds me more of FM broadcasts. Be that as it may, it’s a good one from 1979 which doesn’t seem to be as well represented as either the year before or after. KANSAS MONOLITH IN THE STORM Alpine Valley East Troy, WI. • Audience 8.5-9.1 All in all, for what you are privy to hear in this collection (some pretty darn rare bits!), it’s pretty good and listenable. It sounds to me that the band, from 1973 and again a few years later in 1975/78 REALLY progressed, it’s almost like night and day. I do like the early, raw stuff because it shows what a band can become if given half a chance. Judas Priest Rarities 1973-1981 Disc 1 London May 10, 1973 First gig with Halford 1. Cheater 2. • Audience 8.6 - This old tape has been extensively reworked to present a fan favorite in as good of quality as ever. It’s not a great tape recording but it’s actually kind of a charmer, this is due in part because this old theater was a favorite venue for many of the classic UK prog and Canterbury groups of the time. It’s a very appealing concert, you can kind of sense the band relishes it. • Audience 8.9 - A strong tape here, with very open, spacious sound and pleasant high end. It could benefit from more bottom but it’s not what I would call “thin” sounding. • Audience 8.8 - This rates highly as a new audio tape discovery from decades ago you might have low expectations but it’s a good, clear (but for Alice being a little low in the mix) and I would say powerful show in sound and performance. • Soundboard 9.2 & Audience 9.7 - Right away you are going to question this rating. Most of you will be familiar with the ’69 set as it is well traveled and professionally recorded and as such has a purity about it. Now, I like it, I like the purity and clarity and all of that, but just listen to the raw audience tape from 1972 and then tell me it doesn’t deserve the rating I give it. If you don’t hear the unbridled intensity, the electricity zapping the entire stadium and coming through your speakers directly into your head at full throttle, than just stop collecting right now and take up another hobby, maybe crochet or something.
