Audience 9.3 - A sweet recording that is so comfortable to listen to, so easy on the ears with a nice rolling bass and present but not obtrusive drums. Mick is above the fray where he should be and guitars swirl and hum beneath him…excellent! Audience 9.1 - A great sounding capture that is just a little further back than the previous night…still it’s really good because the dynamic range is wide and warm. The sound mix itself is not heavy on the guitars here, it’s really Mick and drums followed by the low rumble of the bass. Guitars are here just not the spotlight instrument which in my opinion I prefer them front and center. Alas, I found myself able to appreciate the contributions of everyone else for once. Audience 9.3 - Killer tape this one is…and it makes you wonder if this taper did any other bands. That may well be your first thought if you are a collector. This is just a damn good tape. R.E.O. Audience 8.8 - This tape is fascinating! Really gives the listener exactly what they might have experienced attending this concert, a sort of audio time capsule in very good quality but more than that it is LOADED with electric atmosphere. You get a very good sense of time and space. Fantastic! There is one caveat…a microphone drop out does occur towards the end of the show that kind of spoils the flow but it was not something that seemed like taper error so all is forgiven. Audience 9.7 - Brilliant recording and an example of what you can do if you have excellent gear, perfect acoustics, and good placement. This version of the Chick Corea 1978 tour does not feature a full band ensemble but rather a more natural, non electrified direction which allows the players to really showcase their talents without much competition for the sound space. Audience 9.1 -A fantastic tape that gets the right amount of atmosphere to give you a good sense of the moment, the venue, the crowd. The quality of the sound is very clean and punchy although leans toward an upper mid band frequency at the expense of the bottom end. It’s not as full a sound as could have been but it’s an excellent quality of sound nonetheless. The music is very engaging, this is a most welcomed tape. Soundboard 9.8 - Sonically this sounds like it was recorded yesterday. Musically it sounds like it was recorded in 1971…which is a very good thing. The guitar tone is infectiously boogie blasted if that makes any sense. The whole thing is like an overamplified revival meeting…in a cool way. Audience 8.7 - I want to rate this higher because of what it represents and what it will do for you, the listener. I want to rate it based on more than just audio fidelity, which in this case is very good for the time, and technically you get everything you need here – excellent separation of instruments, good clarity, good atmosphere…but dynamically it sits in a middle range place and doesn’t offer deep, rich lows or crisp highs and we are spoiled nowadays so we might complain about that but NOT ME! This is KILLER! When was the last time a Queen live recording caused the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up? I can’t adequately express the perfection this performance is, spine-tingling, electric, orgasmic, all of this and more. If listening to this show doesn’t move you, you are dead inside. Audience 9.8 - It’s hard to find anything that is quite as marvelous as this…seriously. You can take all your pristine board tapes and none of them come close to capturing the essence of Led Zeppelin on stage in front of an audience. This is simply a MUST HAVE no matter how many shows you have in the collection (certainly you already have this anyway) but get this one again because it’s been recently transferred from the original cassette masters and given the treatment. This could easily come out officially. BRILLIANT!!! Audience 8.6 - A new tape to circulation and a most welcomed one. It’s certainly quite different and for Zep collectors will be analyzed incessantly and be shown as a “keeper” for many reasons. Sound quality is a little hissy but surprisingly clear and without mud. Dynamically it’s not going to shatter any records but let me tell you for what this is, it offers a fascinating window into a hard-working touring band making yet another tour stop in some out of the way, random Scandinavian town nobody has ever heard of. Audience 9.4 - This is a revelation for me. I was not too familiar with the band and always assumed they were just another “Neo Prog” band from the 80’s. Boy am I wrong! This is KILLER! The audio quality is thankfully excellent and bright so as to capture the insane complexity and brilliance of this band. Sure, there’s going to be obvious attempts to compare them to other bands but to my ears they had something unique going, while also tipping the cap to bands like Marillion, Genesis, and UK. The amount of ideas going on in each song is beyond belief. Audience 9.3 - A nicely done job this one. A warm sound, with emphasis on clear and crisp drums, bright vocals, detailed bass, and percussive keys but all in all really I find the sound mix relaxing and I sank right into this recording for the duration.
