Radio Broadcasts 9.4/9.1 - Overall quality is excellent with a couple of these sounding a little dated but nevertheless the quality of the content combined with broadcast over the air quality (never mind how many decades ago) I think this holds up quite well. Broadcasts 8.8/9.4 - A little variation depending on the source of the recording in question (all fully annotated in the notes), what you get here is a collection of broadcasts over the air during 1969 and 1970 when music was in full change mode and experimentation and blending of genres was all the rage. Blodwyn Pig certainly has to be included in that product description with their jazz-tinged hard rock akin to Jethro Tull without flute (substitute sax instead). Makes sense, since Mick Abrahams helped define Tull’s sound in the beginning days. This is great stuff though and is HIGHLY recommended. Audience 9.1 - God bless the tapers for this one!  What a great show it is, and really I can’t recommend it highly enough because it’s TOTALLY immersive, I mean, sure it’s not 100% perfect but in a way it’s as good as you would hope. It’s a fun experience to hear this man just at the top of his game like this with a band that doesn’t miss a thing, ever. Various Sources 8.5/10 - So this is, as the title suggests, a collection of recordings made during this tour but the kicker is that the songs are all ones that were one-off’s (with a couple of exceptions). I found that even the worst track (the final track in the set) was not as bad as they made it seem in the liner notes. Still, when compared to some of the truly outstanding ones in the set, yes maybe it really paled in comparison but there’s only two “marginal” tracks here and they aren’t totally abhorrent. This was a very interesting listen for me personally. Audience 8.7 - I had a hard time determining whether it was the recording or the PA that caused this tape to fall below the usually excellent quality recordings coming out of the Inglewood Forum around this same time. It’s not terrible; the main issue was an overcrowding of the middle bandwidth. So you get plenty of bottom end and soaring high end (where most guitar leads and vocals, and yes, cymbals are clear) but a lack of separation in that crucial middle. That leaves us with a tape clearly made on decent gear, somewhere in the middle of the venue it sounds like, and likely a master source (zero tape noise), but just not delivering the kind of clarity you would want when you are trying to hear the magical guitar interplay, especially Joe Walsh who just has his own musicality that perks your ears up. Still, a good tape that is worthy of exploration and much appreciated being from that wonderful line-up that featured perennial fave Joe Walsh. Audience 8.8 - This came as a total surprise as I never knew it existed…and man, I gotta tell ya this is f’kin AWESOME!  This is a band that is crucial to the burgeoning British punk movement but they owe more to the MC5 than the Sex Pistols. This one off show features the band going under the moniker The Doomed because they have a certain Lemmy Kilmister on bass. What a high energy, totally wild and crazy fun gig too! Good sound quality, thankfully!  Great setlist with a nice handful of covers that highlight their influences (they even do Silver Machine from Hawkwind!). Audience 8.8 - Here we have two concerts in very good quality that show a band undeniably at the peak, a peak that seemed to stretch out for a VERY long time I might add, but a creative peak that gave audiences a lot to digest musically. The quality of this tape is pretty decent but I give it a knock in the rating (although 8.8 is still high) because I got too much emphasis on an upper mid frequency that didn’t rub me the right way and this is a subjective analysis. The tape allows plenty of information in that you get pretty much everything, it’s clear, and the content is worth the price of admission. I am making a subjective observation but I feel the taper had done an amazing job and it would have gotten a 9.4 if the mic he used delivered more dynamics and a wider sound-field. Picky picky picky!  This sounds good. Audience 8.5 - I would designate this recording as a reference recording – what was going on in 1973?  That’s what this tape is, an old newspaper featuring a back story on this local band. Very dated…sound quality is marginal but not in a miserable, muddy, dogshit kind of way. It’s listenable and fun, like I said it is a good reference and may guide you towards other NYD tapes out there. I know I was certainly intrigued enough to seek out other recordings.
