• Pro Studio 9.6 - Crystal clear and in fact does not even sound like it was recorded off air, these are certainly pre-broadcast. The Smiths BBC 1983-1986 01. • Studio Quality 9.4 - I admit I never was a fan, but being a music collector I ended up discovering a few things I’d missed and this is one. While I am still not the biggest Morrissey fan, I think he certainly fits with this style and let’s admit it these songs are all quite good. The Smiths Demos & Outtakes 01 -Reel Around The Fountain (July 1983, Troy Tate final mix) 02 -The Hand That Rocks The Cradle (October 1983, John Porter monitor mix) 03 -This Night Has Opened My Eyes (June 1984, unreleased studio recording) 04 -Rusholme Ruffians (July 1984, John Porter first take) 05 -I Misses You (December 1984, instrumental) 06 -There Is A Light That Never Goes Out (September 1985, early take) 07 -The Queen Is Dead (Fall 1985, original unedited version) 08 -Frankly, Mr Shankly (November 1985, Stephen Street "trumpets" recording) 09 -Ask (9 June 1986, probable first-ever take) 10 -Is It Really So Strange? • Soundboard 9.1 - I rate this as a soundboard because even though I am not 100% sure, the giveaway is the drums. There’s no way this is from the audience as the drums are in stereo, obviously professionally mixed and panned in a stereo sound field. The Smiths Queen Margaret Hall Glasgow, Scotland March 2, 1984 1. -Hand In Glove 2. -Heaven Knows 3. -Girl Afraid 4. -This Charming Man 5. -Pretty Girls Make Graves 6. -Still Ill 7. -This Night Has Opened My Eyes 8. -Barbarism Begins At Home 9. -Back To The Old House 10. -What Difference Does It Make 11. -Reel Around The Fountain 12. -You've Got Everything Now 13. -Handsome Devil
  • Soundboard 9.7 - An amazing sounding tape, the bass sounds wonderful and all instruments mixed perfectly. A great one! The Smiths May 4th, 1984 Markthalle, Hamburg, Germany 01. • Audience 9.2 - A nice and bright tape with a good solid bass holding it all down. The Smiths Royal Court Theatre Liverpool, UK. Feb. 8th, 1986 1. Montagues And Capulets 2. Shakespeare's Sister 3. I Want The One I Can't Have 4. Vicar In A Tutu 5. Frankly, Mr. Shankly 6. Marie's The Name - Rusholme Ruffians 7. The Boy With The Thorn In His Side 8. Cemetary Gates 9. Nowhere Fast 10. • Pro 9.6 -An obviously professionally recorded show, this will certainly provide the listener with a lot to love although I still like more atmosphere on a live recording than what is contained herein. The beginnings and endings do show the presence of an enthusiastic audience. The Smiths "Same Day Again" Oxford Apollo March 18th 1985 01. William It Was Really Nothing 02. Nowhere Fast 03. What She Said 04. Hand In Glove 05. How Soon Is Now? 06. Stretch Out And Wait 07. That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore 08. Shakespears Sister 09. Headmaster Ritual 10. Still Ill 11. Meat Is Murder 12. Miserable lie 13. Barbarism Begins At Home 14. You've Got Everything Now
  • Soundboard 8.8 - A dated sounding board tape, yes it is good but I can see how there are limitations with board tapes just as there are with audience tapes. If I was a fan I would still love this show, I mean, it’s clear and clean and it’s finely performed so there’s no real downside here. The Smiths Versailles, Paris 12-01-1984 01 - Intro 02 - William, It Was Really Nothing 03 - What She Said 04 - Nowhere Fast 05 - Reel Around The Fountain 06 - Heaven Knows Im Miserable Now 07 - How Soon Is Now? 08 - Still Ill 09 - Rusholme Ruffians 10 - This Charming Man 11 - Barbarism Begins At Home 12 - I Want The One I Can't Have 13 - Hand In Glove 14 - What Difference Does It Make? 15 - Handsome Devil 16 - Miserable Lie
  • Audience 8.2 - Well, it isn’t a recording that will win any grammies but damn if it isn’t RAW just like the band and their music. This recording actually suits this band – it’s a little rough, but it’s brutal and in your face. The vocals fight for bandwidth against angry and loud guitars, driving bass, and furious non-stop drums. It’s actually kind of a fun listen despite its limitations. Oh, and some good news – it is not a muddy mess at all, it’s just a loud band in a small club sounding for all the world like the debut of punk rock. Iggy and the Stooges Max's Kansas City New York, NY, USA Monday August 6th, 1973 01 - Raw Power 02 - Head On 03 - Gimmie Danger 04 - Cock In My Pocket 05 - Search and Destroy 06 - I Need Somebody 07 - New Orleans 08 - Johanna Line-up: Iggy Pop - Vocals James Williamson - Guitar Ron Asheton - Bass Scott Asheton - Drums
  • Audience 7.4 to 7.7 - A tape that varies in consistency but man oh man, this is incredible! I don’t care about the limitations of the tape, I can hear everything, at times it gets quite good and clear, there is some phasing at times, sometimes the taper is walking around too but it doesn’t even matter. This is amazing!
  • CD issue of an album originally released in 1982. Import from UK, CD is SEALED.
  • Audience 6.7 - Really do wish this sounded better but it’s the only known live recording of this wonderful and amazing prog band. Keyboards are more prominent in the mix, followed by drums, then bass. So the important elements are here. When the band is quieter you get much more out of it, that being said, WOW just to even have this is quite special, really. I find more to enjoy from this than to be grumpy about.
  • CD issue of the complete works of very underground psychedelic act out of Detroit. CD is SEALED.
  • Audience 9.2 - Hard to imagine someone not absolutely loving this, but there are still a few people who think just because a microphone placed somewhere in the audience was used to capture the sound, it can’t be good. Play them this. Wowsers!
  • Audience 8.8 - A great tape here! I heard pretty much everything happening on stage, and the mix is not bad. I was one of those who completely overlooked this band, and should have made more of an effort…but here we are now and I am digging it! The Tubes Pantages Theatre Los Angeles, CA February 22, 1978 Disc 1 01 Overture- Up from the Deep - Young and Rich - Madam I'm Adam - Mondo Bondage 02 Got Yourself A Deal 03 Show Me A Reason 04 God - Bird - Change 05 What Do You Want From Life 06 Special Ballet 07 Don't Touch Me There 08 Mondo Bondage 09 Smoke (La Vie en Fumer) 10 It's Not Unusual 11 Intermission Disc 2 12 Haloes 13 Be Mine Tonight 14 Crime Medley 15 Getoverture 16 Telecide 17 I Was A Punk Before You Were A Punk 18 I Saw Her Standing There 19 Drum Solo 20 Boy Crazy 21 Stand Up And Shout 22 White Punks On Dope
  • Pro Studio 9.2 - Minimalism never sounded so catastrophic! But it’s cool in a subversive kind of way.
