• Audience 8.2 - A tape with some good qualities despite being technically average. For instance, I like the vocals on this tape, and Pete’s guitar is in a better spot than on most average audience recordings, it comes through ok, with great atmosphere! Roger sounds great, and the bass is a nice fat, round sound that gets a little pushy but also gives the show its darker vibe. Interesting moment in the show, during the pause in Young Man Blues (the one right before the jam) where Keith traditionally tosses the sticks and catches them, the audience really reacts so it must have been a spectacular one by Keith. Pete shines on guitar throughout this gig.

Original price was: $23.49.Current price is: $22.00.
FM Broadcast 9.0 - Not sure what the master source is for this one, it could either be a cassette tape or an LP, either way the sound is very good but there’s a little bit of that typical kind of compression you got off FM broadcasts. Not a problem here, just that I notice it.
  • Soundboard 9.1 - This is not a complete show, but WHO cares?  It’s a vintage 1969 soundboard of the Who and man, it smokes!  I’ll take it whoever which way I can get it (see what I did there?). BTW the complete show does exist, but the audio quality of the audience recording that makes up the difference is of significantly less fidelity that it was decided not to even include it for release. • Soundboard 9.8 - Put down whatever you are doing immediately. This SMOKES! This is the one you do not want to pass up!
  • Audience 8.4 - Amazing discovery here, a complete 1971 show that sounds rather decent (if loud). This tape puts you right into the middle of the audience, it’s quite exciting!
  • Audience 8.9 - Clean and bright, especially nice drum sounds!
  • Audience 8.3 - Not recorded from the best vantage point on the best gear, but taper made the best of it, and it gets incrementally better from the time where he moves to a better spot (closer). Tape has all the hallmarks of a large stadium, loud rock concert, the regular deal…not going to blow anyone away. Now that I’ve said that, there’s some good news! Yup – Pete is playing great and he is the clearest sounding, followed by Roger, and the bass has a good, deep, rumbling growl that comes through (NOT boomy!). If this tape had been boomy, I would have rated it in the upper 7’s. First song, first row behind the stage looking at Keiths Moon’s back. Track two starts and I’m looking for a better recording position. The stage has typical left and right arrays  but there was also an extra array on the right side facing the stage. Strangely not one to the left side.  I parked myself in front of it which was basically just above me. On minor movement towards the center of the arena on the right side to avoid two chicks with whistles and the remaining show was recorded in that position.
  • Audience 7.1 - Definitely not a hi-fi recording but I can say this, you actually hear not only Roger fine above the din, but also Pete’s backing vocals! Next up is bass and guitars, with drums in the back kind of buried. Still, I just love these 68 shows, before Tommy, and the band is just so jazzed and audiences are too. Historical document well worth hearing.
  • Audience 7.2 - A low rating but at least .5 points higher than the original version. Someone did a Remaster which it desperately needed because it was flawed. Mainly, it’s surface noise from the vinyl source (original tape source never located). It wasn’t great to begin with either. If you needed to upgrade this for your collection – get this one .... Bonus is the great artwork and packaging.
  • Audience 7.4 - A one dimensional recording that actually is clear enough to catch everything happening but the sound resides somewhere in the upper mids to highs, not screechy, just one dimensional.
  • Audience 9.3 - Another excellent, clear, bright 75 show with all the dynamics you could want, good punchy drums and bass, clear vocals, crunchy guitars. Lovely!
  • Audience 8.8 - Aside from a rough beginning, this tape comes pretty darn close to the excellence of the Toronto ’75 show. It’s got good presence and clarity, with an ample amount of kick where it needs it.  I also find the performance very strong, Keith is firing on all eight and the band is really in sync with each other. A keeper! • A nice sounding collection (all audience source) of concerts all from 1976. None of this material falls below a solid 8.7 and rises to 9.1 in the sonic ratings, but taken as a whole this deserves a place in any collection even if no board tapes are included. • All Soundboard and all about 9.2 to 9.4
  • Metropolitan Opera House NY 1970 Audience 8.4 - A decent tape considering we have very few US 1970 tour audience tapes that sound great. A little sweetening with EQ and you’ve just raised the sound rating another half a point…technology has changed the way collectors think about these old audience source tapes. Newcastle 1971 Audience 8.7 - A surprising new find!  Buried for decades and now dusted off, restored and presented for your approval. It’s not bad!  I can hear it all, with some cool atmosphere. I rather like it! San Francisco 1971 Audience 8.8 - This tape has some depth to it, where you get definition in the bass and not just “low end” which I appreciate. Roger rises above in the sound mix but on this tape nobody is drowned out, it’s evenly mixed and that makes it enjoyable. Some background noise which sounds like it is coming from the house PA but not during the band performing…all in all this is a real good one.
