• Audience 9.6 - Superb clarity and separation of instruments while retaining a cool, honest live vibe which is what recording from an audience can produce so long as the gear being used is high quality and taper knows how to use it. Here, they do. Prince Paisley Park 3-28/29-2014 Disc 1 1. Why Come 2. Day In The Sun 3. My Family 4. North carolina 5. Share It With You 6. On The Way Up (inc. Love Machine) 7. Catch Me If U Can 8. • Audience 9.1 - Atmospheric, where even if it may be recorded from somewhere in the middle, the immersive experience has been well captured. Vocals sound lush and full, and percussion is crisp and well defined with a nice, rounded bottom end holding it all down. This is a decent recording that allows the listener to imagine where they are sitting and how the event sounded, the actual P.A. sound. • Audience 8.8  - The Zurich aftershow is decent enough for what had to be a packed club, so yeah it’s somewhat claustrophobic as you feel like you are squeezed between people and you are trying to bootleg the damn show ha ha!  It’s good, it’s not great. The rest of the material is excellent quality from various source but all great. PRINCE The War Disc 1 Newpower Soul Tour Aftershow Kaufleuten, Zurich 24th August 1998 1. • Audience 9.3 - A very good tape, with less of the perfect instrumental separation but more of the live power that can be delivered through good house P.A.’s, and as long as taper is not a complete moron and/or using radio shack circa 1985 gear, chances are you’ll end up with a nice recording…as this one is. • Audience 9.5 - The recording level is a little low, but the quality is excellent so turn this one up and allow the clearness and dynamics to take you there. • Audience 9.4 - If the house itself sounds great, and your taping with high quality equipment (most likely a small digital unit with a good, dynamic mic and level control), then your result will be something like this. A lot of detail comes through, as does, from time to time, a rowdy audience – that adds to the atmosphere and thankfully never wrecks the audio recording. Prince Kaufleuten '93 Revisited Act II Tour Aftershow Kaufleuten, Zurich 30th August 1993 1. The Sacrifice Of Victor (intro) 2. Deuce And A Quarter 3. Black MF In The House 4. Race 5. • Soundboard 9.5 - Spectacular sound, ferocious performance! This is, without a doubt, one absolute must-have for anyone with even a remote interest in Judas Priest…but I’ll take it even further and say ANYONE who loves hard rock should get this one. Judas Priest - "Unleashed In New York" Mudd Club, New York, NY, USA March 11th, 1979 01 Intro 02 Hell Bent For Leather 03 Delivering The Goods 04 Running Wild 05 Beyond The Realms Of Death 06 The Green Manalishi 07 Victim Of Changes 08 Rock Forever 09 Starbreaker Rob Halford K.K. • Pro Studio 9.8 - Glorious sound quality, and the intimate setting of the Record Plant radio broadcasts back in the day is just perfect here because we all know what happened to this guy’s career after Margaritaville took off…would have been hard to reproduce such intimate settings after that. • Audience 8.8 - A really good tape with a loud and phat bottom end that is probably not that unlike what the actual sound would have been at the show. If the vocals were a little bit louder I would have mistaken this for a radio broadcast. JUDAS PRIEST Maison des sports Clermont-Ferrand, France January 31,1984 Disc 1 01 -Electric Eye 02 -Grinder 03 -Metal Gods 04 -Bloodstone 05 -Breaking The Law 06 -Sinner 07 -Desert Plain 08 -Some Heads Are Gonna Roll 09 -The Ripper 10 -Freewheel Burning Disc 2 01 -You've Got Another Thing Comin' 02 -Victim Of Changes 03 -Living After Midnight 04 -The Green Manalishi 05 -Hell Bent for Leather
  • Grand Funk Railroad Hawaii 1971 - Soundboard 9.1 A scarcity of prime era  recordings mandate that anyone remotely interested in this band pursue any and all recordings that are A. Soundboard and/or B. decent audience for the simple reason that this band kicked ass. This is a true rarity – a soundboard and, yes, it kicks major ass. Grand Funk Railroad Boston 1971 Audience 8.7 - A very good tape surfaces and you can actually hear everything pretty clearly. This band played very loud (as did any self-respecting heavy rock band of the early 70’s) and consequently unless you smuggled in superior quality machinery you weren’t likely to be able to capture this sound with any clarity. This taper had better than average gear it seems, and even though it’s still somewhat distant from the stage, it is a tape that allows the listener to experience an entire show without struggling too hard to make out what is going on. Grand Funk Railroad Live 1971 Disc 1 Hawaii University Honolulu, Hawaii July 13th, 1971 1. -Are You Ready 2. -Paranoid 3. -In Need 4. -Mean Mistreated 5. -I'm Your Captain 6. -Into The Sun 7. -Inside Looking Out 8. -Are You Ready (Reprise) Disc 2 Boston Garden Boston, MA. october-3-1971 1 -Intro - Footstompin' Music 2 -Upsetter 3 -People Let's Stop The War 4 -Mean Mistreater 5 -Feeling Alright 6 -I'm Your Captain 7 -Heartbreaker Disc 3 Boston cont'd 8 -T.N.U.C 9 -Gimme Shelter 10 -Inside Looking Out the band Mark Farner – guitars lead vocals keyboard Don Brewer – drums lead vocals Mel Schacher – bass guitar
  • Soundboard 9.3  - A very clean and mellow sounding board tape, and it suits the music well because everything is pinpoint accurate, which you really want as the playing is so well executed you need to hear it all as well as possible.   Grateful Dead May 19, 1974 Portland Coliseum Portland, OR Disc 1 Set 1 101 - Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo 102 - Mexicali Blues 103 - Big Railroad Blues 104 - Black Throated Wind 105 - Scarlet Begonias 106 - Beat It On Down The Line 107 - Tennessee Jed 108 - Me And Bobby McGee 109 - Sugaree 110 - Jack Straw 111 - It Must Have Been The Roses 112 - El Paso Disc 2 Set 1 cont'd 113 - Loose Lucy 114 - Money Money 115 - China Cat Sunflower 116 - I Know You Rider Set 2 117 - Tuning 118 - Promised Land 119 - Bertha 120 - Greatest Story Ever Told 121 - Ship Of Fools 122 - Weather Report Suite Disc 3 Set 2 cont'd 207 - Wharf Rat 208 - Big River 209 - Peggy-O 210 - Tico Tico 211 - Truckin' 212 - Mind Left Body Jam 213 - Not Fade Away 214 - Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad 215 - One More Saturday Night 216 - U.S. Blues 217 - Johnny B. • Audience 9.5 - A sparkling, vivid recollection of a moment in time when an evening of progressive rock music was being performed by masters of the craft, and it was sublime. A recording that has wonderful atmosphere, solid and deep, showcasing both guitar and bass in a manner so that each are distinct yet blended perfectly. Yes Long Beach Arena Long Beach, CA March 19, 1974 Disc 1 01 Pre-show 02 Intro: Firebird Suite excerpt 03 Siberian Khatru 04 And You And I 05 Close To The Edge 06 The Revealing Science Of God Disc 2 07 The Ancient: Giants Under The Sun 08 Musical Interlude - Prelude - Ritual (nous sommes du soleil) 09 Roundabout 10 Starship Trooper

  • Soundboard 9.1 - I rate this as a soundboard because even though I am not 100% sure, the giveaway is the drums. There’s no way this is from the audience as the drums are in stereo, obviously professionally mixed and panned in a stereo sound field. The Smiths Queen Margaret Hall Glasgow, Scotland March 2, 1984 1. -Hand In Glove 2. -Heaven Knows 3. -Girl Afraid 4. -This Charming Man 5. -Pretty Girls Make Graves 6. -Still Ill 7. -This Night Has Opened My Eyes 8. -Barbarism Begins At Home 9. -Back To The Old House 10. -What Difference Does It Make 11. -Reel Around The Fountain 12. -You've Got Everything Now 13. -Handsome Devil
