Audience 7.5 A famous show, billed as “Electric Magic”, the band put on a marathon concert which is contained on these three discs…in average quality. That’s it. Legendary gig, great performance, average recording. Listen to Since I’ve Been Loving You, it will give you chills. Collectors will need this…historically huge. Audience 8.8 - Every now and then a tape surfaces that really gets you excited as a collector. This one is just such a tape, because for one thing not only is the quality very good, but it’s super nice on the ears. What I mean is, the timbre of the recording is very comfortable, so it’s easy to listen to the entire show there is no fatigue on the ears at all. The icing on the cake is having both opening acts in the same kind of quality, in complete form. So, what more could you ask for? Audience 8.8 - This may not be a tape with good song separation or detail but it occupies a sonic range that is very comfortable on the ears. Usually when attending a very loud, bombastic heavy rock or metal concert you aren’t going to distinguish much anyway, you will basically hear a roaring sound…but this tape delivers a little more than just that. This is a good document and taper used good gear, sat in a good spot, and recorded everything. I would call this recording completely immersive, with a warm, inviting sound. Chicago 1979 Soundboard 8.8 - A little bit on the “ragged” side mix-wise, with strong kick drums and guitar, vocals next. Sound quality is decent due to it being a soundboard but some instruments are placed well behind such as keyboards. It is a high energy sound, a real sonic blast to be sure. Denver 1979 Soundboard 9.3 - A refreshing and bright board tape, mixed well and everything is heard pretty clearly. Keyboards still mixed lower down the chain of command but now I think I understand this idea – while the band is playing it’s simply keyboard accompaniment, and when it’s keyboards time, he’s brought up louder. Works for me. Long Island 1979 Audience 8.7 - A pretty decent tape for this hall, the bass sounds very nice, full and round, guitars are a little back, vocals are present and up front more or less. So, all in all unless you have to have Ritchie blasting full on into your eardrums, which he is during his solo bits, this one will sit nicely in the collection and I even think it will find a repeated listen or two. Audience 9.1 - A lovely, intimate recording that belies the size of the venue. Of course, this was a different approach Elton John undertook on this tour. I think it works well, the bombast has been toned down and what you get instead is an examination of his music presented to you by the man…I think you will appreciate these songs in this way. Seattle 1970 FM Broadcast 9.4 - So good to have clear and vibrant live Doors recordings…there’s just not enough of them out there. Hypnotic, and with Jim at the helm it’s a feast for the imagination as to what shenanigans were happening on stage. Cool as HECK! Detroit 1970 FM Broadcast 9.2 - Nice, clean, concise and this is how I want to hear The Doors. There’s so much subtlety and intrigue and you need to be able to hear everything clearly…and with this tape you do. For the track listing on this one, please review the images as we posted a clear photo of the track sheet.

Soundboard 9.2 & Audience 9.7 - Right away you are going to question this rating. Most of you will be familiar with the ’69 set as it is well traveled and professionally recorded and as such has a purity about it. Now, I like it, I like the purity and clarity and all of that, but just listen to the raw audience tape from 1972 and then tell me it doesn’t deserve the rating I give it. If you don’t hear the unbridled intensity, the electricity zapping the entire stadium and coming through your speakers directly into your head at full throttle, than just stop collecting right now and take up another hobby, maybe crochet or something. Audience 8.5 - We all are aware that this tape is not spectacular quality, it does what it needs to do and that is present a document of a great evening for Led Zeppelin. It’s quite magical in many respects, and really I think the quality is not disappointing considering some re-mastering of the tape has been done and it helps. Still this is worth having for history and for how good the band is playing. Audience 9.0 - A small club atmosphere puts you up close to the band and the respectful audience. The music is all-encompassing, it’s space rock with emphasis on rock, and It is quite interesting. Quality is clear, it’s not super dynamic but you can really sink into this recording and what is extra cool is the taper stayed for both sets leading me to believe they were connected to the band or their management. Maybe not, but it’s my guess. Cool stuff! Far East Family Band Troubador Los Angeles, CA Early Show 1978-03-24 First Performance in the United States. Soundboard 9.2 - This is the complete recording featuring both sets (previously available as an edited down version) and is notable for the amazing version of Dark Star, although the gig is expertly performed, that track really stands out. The sound is clean (almost too clean) and does have a “rounded” sound, there’s no jangly edges here so crank it up for a better experience. Cleveland 1981 is an FM Broadcast 9.2 which I had not heard before believe it or not, so, I was suitably impressed. Anyone would be appreciative! The second disc (and most of the 3rd) is Montreal 81 and is an FM Broadcast 8.9 due to a more subdued signal that does not take away any frequency range but rather slightly compresses the sound just a bit. Now I want the listener to realize that this is a subjective opinion, technically speaking the audio here is excellent so it’s a matter of personal taste in this case. The second half of disc 3 is all studio quality. Audience 9.3 - As good as it could be for a large stadium concert. Despite the soundmen fighting mic feedback issues during the first few songs, it certainly gets dialed in and becomes quite nice with the feeling of this being an event, the atmosphere, the way the sound sort of envelopes your ears and you get a sense of size and space. Audience 9.8 - It’s hard to find anything that is quite as marvelous as this…seriously. You can take all your pristine board tapes and none of them come close to capturing the essence of Led Zeppelin on stage in front of an audience. This is simply a MUST HAVE no matter how many shows you have in the collection (certainly you already have this anyway) but get this one again because it’s been recently transferred from the original cassette masters and given the treatment. This could easily come out officially. BRILLIANT!!! Audience 8.6 - A new tape to circulation and a most welcomed one. It’s certainly quite different and for Zep collectors will be analyzed incessantly and be shown as a “keeper” for many reasons. Sound quality is a little hissy but surprisingly clear and without mud. Dynamically it’s not going to shatter any records but let me tell you for what this is, it offers a fascinating window into a hard-working touring band making yet another tour stop in some out of the way, random Scandinavian town nobody has ever heard of.
