• Audience  8.9 - Warm sound with a beautiful stereo sound field.
  • Soundboard 8.9   (both shows)
  • Audience  8.4 - It’s good sound for the most part but I find it on the thin side, and there’s a rather narrow sound field giving it a mono quality (it may not be mono but it sounds mono). The second show is an FM broadcast 8.8
  • Chicago - Soundboard  9.4 / Detroit - Audience  8.8
  • Soundboard 8.8 - The mix gets a little cluttered up at times, guitars being rather hot in this mix but I guess that is what you would prefer. The first disc is all BB King, the second disc is when Eric comes on to join for the remainder of the set. Eric Clapton with B.B. • Audience 8.8 - This is the sound of the 80’s, it wasn’t exactly what you remembered!  I completely missed these guys. I instantly assumed any 80’s band was shite…I was so stuck in my own world of Pink Floyd, Steppenwolf, Hendrix, Van Halen, Sabbath, Zeppelin….but I should have been more open minded. These guys were cool AF!  Good quality, very realistic capture. Bauhaus Architectual Association Carnival Bedford Square, London, UK 22 May 1981 01. Bela Lugosi's Dead (9:06) 02. • Audience  8.6 - Because it is primarily a keyboard dominated group, the audio rings out pretty clear to where you hear everything well. It is somewhat compressed though, with a low ceiling where the slightest bit of audio break-up is occurring (so do not crank this one up). It is a decent recording despite the limitations.
  • Audience 8.3 - Limitations with the microphone is probably what prevents this recording from blossoming as it sometimes seems like it wants to do. You can hear it, for instance, during some of the passages, but I think the overloading of the bass crowds out the guitar a bit too much (although you can hear guitar, just not in a clear and detailed manner). Drums and keyboards dominate with a very insistent, pulsing bass undercurrent throughout. Does that count this out?  Not at all, due to the disparity of live BJH recordings, I think this one is worth exploring. The compositions and playing make up for the limitations on the tape. • Audience  8.8 - Sparkling! There’s a really wonderful, intimate atmosphere permeating this recording, and I don’t mean “hall reverb” either. The warmth of the recording captures the warmth of the artist/audience experience. There’s a bit of chatter present but it’s all part of the deal. Get this one!
  • Audience  9.0 - Both Shows are 9.0 ... Simply gorgeous, lush, well balanced recordings made by people who obviously knew what they were doing. The only knock is maybe a little squishing in the middle during peak volume moments. I wish I could get my hands on any other tapes these guys made! Get this you won’t regret it.
  • PRO Radio Broadcast  9.4 - Excellent tight, warm, sweet spot all the way through here! To sound engineers – this is how you record and mix a bass guitar and drums.
  • All Soundboard 9.3 - This entirely depends on how much you want to hear blazing, inventive lead guitar and don’t mind if the bass sounds more like a rhythm guitar, That is what the bass sounds like to my ears, it’s there, but it’s not “low end” it’s more like a heavy rhythm guitar. It works for this style of rock though – and it’s all good stuff, if maybe a tad generic with the singing.
