Audience 8.4 - A lo-fi but pretty decent and clear recording. I would not expect there to be many high-end live tapes floating around due to the fact that most people probably did not know who this guy was. Collectors will appreciate having this, a very uncommon thing and worthy of investigation. Audience 9.1 - Excellent fidelity, good and punchy with tight bass and airy vocals. -
Audience 8.7 - Pretty decent with the only gripe being a lack of stereo sound separation but don’t let that deter you. This is a decent, powerful recording. -
Audience 9.4 - If you can’t get into this rollicking, electric southern fried punk and roll then you aren’t alive. This kicks total ass! Great sound quality and great atmosphere combined with a band that was unfairly ignored by the media at a time when new music and new attitudes were flourishing. Radio Broadcast 8.8 - This tape sounds a bit old and word but the music that it contains is pretty well “out there” and I can only imagine how many trips have been taken with this band playing in the background in the late 60’s. Soundboard 8.8 - This recording, while being very clear and obviously recorded for a broadcast, is somewhat dated sounding…in a really good way. It sounds like a relic lost in time, but the band is good and tight. It’s the beginning of the 80’s, and their sound would soon get more FM friendly, here it’s still got that “proto metal” edge to it. -

Soundboard 9.3 - Takes a minute to get a mix, but then it’s off to the races. Interesting to hear this very early period of the band. Very much a good o’l fashioned American hard rock band. -
SDBRD 9.4 /Audience 8.1/Audience 8.8/Audience 8.3 - A comprehensive collection but not everything is represented here, but I would say the more complete recordings are…and so, well, what you get is a pretty mixed bag. The good stuff is very good, and the not so good stuff is…not so good. What does it mean? Should I get this 4 disc set? Yes you should if you care anything at all about this seminal band. There just isn’t a whole lot of live “bootleg” recordings because they predate the era of the taper – not to say there aren’t tapes from 1967-1968 because there are, but not nearly as plentiful or as good as tapes that were made subsequently. That being said, I still found myself listening to everything in this set because you can’t argue the fact that hearing Jeff Beck or Jimmy Page before they were rock gods is immensely interesting. Pro TV Studio 8.7 - A good live recording with atmosphere, it sounds slightly dated but has the ability to transport you to the time and place…I think that when a recording can do that, it overcomes some of the limitations that may be present. Audience 9.2 - A big and warm sound here, with excellent clarity and dynamics. The music at full blast gets just a bit of overload (not distortion, but just a sense of the wall of sound thing) all in all it is safe to say this one is highly recommended.
