Audience 9.1 - A strong, very clear tape which has a deep bottom end, you can feel the kick and the bass! The band sound close, there’s no indication they are playing a large venue, it’s almost kind of an intimate sound. A superb taping job! Audience 8.8 - Taper seems to have a pretty decent set up, because this recording sounds very lively, bright, and there are enough dynamics here to satisfy. What is apparent though is that the poor taper seems to be having to deal with the Japanese phenomena of clapping during songs (not all of them, but yeah the crowd is super enthusiastic). In this sense, because it’s a good recording, I went along with the energy and excitement, settled in, and had a real good time. You will too! Audience 9.2 - This recording is very clean and very bright, it does not favor the bass but what you’ll find is that the guitar sounds like it’s right next to you (which for the taper maybe it was). That is what is going to bring you into this show anyway – it’s all here, it’s a great recording with excellent airspace (atmosphere) allowing the sounds to breath.Jeff Beck & Johnny Depp Grand Sierra Theatre Reno, NV November 12, 2022 Disc 1 01. The set features outstanding quality audience recordings made between 1972 and 1975 at the Seattle Coliseum. The quality encompasses not just the audio fidelity but the completeness and smoothness. All in all this is surely one of the best collections of live Elton John I've ever heard. The price has risen slightly to accommodate the upgrades that have been applied to not only this but the entire line of canisters. I think you will totally be blown away when you see the difference, and the previous ones were pretty impressive so this is going to really be something special. Audience 9.0 - Here’s a great sounding complete show from the ambitious “reunion” tour of 1974 which had the band in not only fine form but giving audiences a marathon set loaded with excellent songs. This is surely one for all collectors of great music regardless of any particular artist because if it’s good, it’s good the ears don’t lie…and this one is good! CD One - Ft. Worth 1980 Audience 9.4 - This recording is hard to definitely call an audience tape because it’s either really close to the main P.A. without much audience interference but the best guess here is that the mic is placed right in from of the P.A. and because of that the sound is direct and electrifying. It’s a terrific recording actually. CD Two - Lubbock 1980 Audience 8.8 - This recording is very decent and inside a small venue so it gets a little raucous at times but overall it’s a nice, dirty little gem. Soundboard 9.7 - Terrific in every way this one will melt your brain. The engineer mixes this on the fly and works it out during Brown Sugar but there are some cool moments while he figures it out – like some stereo panning, and you’ll hear him juggle the bass a bit, but he gets the mix right and off we go! The band is flying high…probably literally. THE ROLLING STONES Rock'n Roll Stew Royal Ranwick Racecourse Sydney, Australia February 26, 1973 1. Brown Sugar 2. Bitch 3. Rock Off 4. Gimmie Shelter 5. Audience 8.8 - A very clean, clear tape which to my ears only needs one thing – more “fatness” – but I found myself getting used to the more midrangey sound as I listened and then I realized it’s a very good recording that requires you to stick with it until it kind of normalizes. I mean, there’s bass here, and it’s actually somewhat detailed…that is what this tape offers more than anything is that each instrument is pretty distinct in this mix. That is what sucks you into the show and why I think it’s worth getting for the collection. Styx Ford Auditorium Detroit, MI 1976-11-29 01. Intro 02. Put Me On 03. Lorelei 04. Shooz 05. Audience 9.3 - A very wide and airy recording that you instantly know the second you hear it that taper is no noob, this is a pro job and stands up to scrutiny well. I could not find that much to complain about except maybe it’s just a tad back in the seats but that just allows for more air and atmospherics which are all here and well captured. Audience 9.2 - I love how this sounds! Geddy is so clear, the sound is very comfortable to my ears and I just love how the drums and bass are distinct – especially the bass because my gosh Geddy is such a badass and so on point here. This is kind of a historic gig in as way most would not even notice. 30 years prior to this date was the last time Rush played the Allentown Fair, and they played a few songs not yet released…welp, fast forward 30 years and they do the same thing here! How cool is that? One other personal detail that struck me was how the performance took me back to around 1979, I felt the performance and atmosphere, along with how the tape itself was recorded, all for some reason made me, at times, think this sounded like the late 70's. Soundboard 9.1 - Another Toronto recording to add to my growing collection and it’s a good one. The band does not sound like they are playing a show in the year 1988, to me they sound more 1978 to be honest. It’s a good, very solid show. Soundboard 9.3 - A good, and raw board tape which perfectly suits the ramshackle, lurching Stones sound and style. Listen to how Mick sounds especially on Shattered – it’s perfect end of story but wait a minute Bill Wyman is actually present and accounted for in a way you never hear. A great live mix high energy soundboard and a must have. THE ROLLING STONES The Kingdome Seattle, WA Oct 15, 1981 CD 1 1. Intro: Take the A Train [01:51] 2. Under My Thumb [03:49] 3.
