• Stoke 1974 Audience 8.4 - A loud tape with a touch of stadium boom, but not anything that approaches irritation. It sounds like it’s in stereo, I hear guitar in one channel and bass in the other which is kinda cool. The instruments are all clearly discernible here making for a tape that sits on the upper side of very good. Tulsa 1975 Audience 8.7 - A tape that has a good, snappy live sound and a pretty good mix for the ears.  The music is delivered to you through a tight mid-range and a snare drum that hovers over everything making it instantly delightful. I rather do like this one! Orange, France 1975 Audience 8.8 - A fine tape, one that really has good separation of instruments, and very decent dynamics. When the guitar solos, the sound seems to glide above you, so that kind of effect and atmosphere puts this show into a category I call “Repeat Listening” because you will go to it again. Amsterdam 1976 Audience 8.8 - Brassy, but enough mid and bottom to smooth that out nicely. A touch of cymbal sizzle but again there’s enough of all other frequencies here that not any one stands out in an annoying fashion. This is a well-balanced tape with some real life in it. • Audience  9.2 - KANSAS opened up for BAD COMPANY on this exciting night in 1976. We have that show listed as well.
  • Soundboard  9.4 - Brilliant!
  • Audience  7.6 - I wish this sounded better because it’s one of the few recordings capturing that rare moment when they are joined by the Zeppers. So, yeah, a little rough with the loudness and all, but important in a historical sense.
  • CD 1 - Brisbane - Audience  7.8  (a little bit flat maybe but it is clear enough you hear the whole band, still enjoyable nonetheless) CD 2 - Lancaster - Audience  8.6  (a great recording here)
  • Audience  8.5 - Nothing much to complain about here. A good and very “live” sounding tape. Gives you the atmosphere which, if done properly, adds much to the tape.
  • Soundboard  9.5 - Mixed for official release, but sadly it was withdrawn from the market and is now hopelessly out of print.
  • Recorded live at Max's Kansas City in NYC 1979. This is an import CD. Jewel Case new never played.
  • CD 1 - Pro  8.8  (and the best disc of this set) CD 2 - Audience  6.4  (possibly the worst of this set, but if you turn it up louder it sounds better actually. Levels are low!) CD 3 - Audience  7.2  (a big step up from previous disc, levels a little low but not so much, kind of thin, gets crowded when the band is loud.) CD 4/5 - Audience  7.7  (good stereo separation, everything is clear, a decent recording!) • Professional recording, top shelf! CD 1 - Audience  9.4 CD 2 - Soundboard  9.2 CD 3 - Soundboard  9.3 CD 4 - Soundboard  9.1
  • Soundboard 8.6 - This sounds VERY 80’s, I mean, it sounds pretty dated…but good quality. I guess they were not too bad, kind of simplistic maybe in a Twisted Sister kind of way, but the guitarist pulls out some tasty solos. • Dallas, TX. based hard rock/jazz fusion group heavily influenced by Jean Luc Ponty and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Enjoyed a brief but fruitful life span between the years 1975 and 1977, and having at least two significant line-up changes. Bassist Roy Vogt would later go on to find much success touring with legendary singer Englebert Humperdinck and teaching and recording many compositions in Nashville, most notably with guitarist extraordinaire Stan Lassiter.
  • Audience  7.8 - Both shows roughly the same with enough differences to say one has qualities the other doesn’t have and vice versa. So whereas in one show you might get more definition on guitar, the other will have more vocal presence and a slightly better rhythm section. Take your pick, two vintage Atomic Rooster gigs hardly a losing proposition.
  • Audience  8.3-8.7 - What starts out sounding kind of boomy, slowly starts to turn into a very good and powerful recording as if the taper started on one side (bass) and moved to the middle…either that or the sound man finally got it right. Either way this will surely please!
