Soundboard 9.9 - This nearly brought me to tears. I always knew this band could reach the highest level of quality, in performance, in tone, in showmanship, and here it is. Yeah, sure, I know what you are thinking: “it’s mid 80’s Aerosmith, it’s the doldrums of rock, it’s a washed up bunch of druggies” but I have to tell you that if this marks a “comeback” then it’s the most amazing comeback I have ever heard. I’ve heard tons of live Aerosmith and I take this show over ALL of them. Soundboard 9.6 - Not only is this a smoking hot board mix but also a killer performance! The band is on point, great dual guitar harmonies and discernible vocals. One of the best I have heard, and the band is far from sounding “80’s”, it’s pretty metal edge even during their bigger hits (Big City Nights, etc.). Roslyn 1976 FM Broadcast 9.2 - Powerful! If you are not familiar with Tommy Bolin and want to learn more, start here! If you are already on the Tommy train – keep riding! This is unbelievably good! Detroit 1976 Audience 8.8 - This is a very good sounding tape in many regards although it is recorded in a large, cavernous arena and therefore you won’t get some of the detail a more intimate venue would give you. The vocals are somewhat drowned out by a guitar sound that is quite huge, with the bass complementing that hugeness to the degree that this show is a guitar/bass tour de force. Thankfully Tommy is the shining star in this recording…and shine he did. Formed in Dallas, TX. in 1970, they were very active gigging and recording (several 7" singles) and built a good size following by the time of their pinnacle in 1976. Their lead guitarist, Randy Nunnally, had even attracted the attention of National act Ted Nugent and was asked to join Ted as his guitarist for a tour. Unfortunately, at that same time, Randy was diagnosed with ALS and went downhill pretty fast, passing away a few short years later. This CD contains music found on their 7" singles as well as a fantastic live radio broadcast. All of the original master tapes were lost in a fire, this is all the music that could be found. The CD is dedicated to the memory of the late, great Randy Nunnally. -

Audience 8.9 - This is one helluva nice find! First of all, it was new to me to begin with, but the kicker is that it is just great, and a furious show with outstanding performances by everyone. Audience 9.3 - It never ceases to amaze me that after all these years tapes like this still keep surfacing. This is really clear and bright, I am having a tough time finding things to complain about here. There’s plenty of headroom to flavor the sound to your liking, if you want to add more bass, yeah, this is just a perfect palate to do so. Anything you do will only make it even better because the core audio is uniquely suited for attenuating without negative consequence. Audience 8.5-9.1 All in all, for what you are privy to hear in this collection (some pretty darn rare bits!), it’s pretty good and listenable. It sounds to me that the band, from 1973 and again a few years later in 1975/78 REALLY progressed, it’s almost like night and day.
