  • Audience 9.0 - I have to say this is a very good recording if your preference is to really be able to make out the vocals and to hear every nuance of the lead guitar possible. In fact, the sonics tend to favor the upper mid-range and highs, to the extent that I was not enthusiastic about the sound of the snare drum here...but that just shows you how articulate that range is. Is it screechy then? No, it's not that this is chirpy or screechy high at all, but one may want to play with the EQ to bring up more low end maybe...because to my ears that is what it needs. Otherwise, again, this is a VERY clear, articulate (especially upper mid and highs) recording. Black Sabbath Mid-Hudson Civic Center Poughkeepsie,NY. USA 31 May 1989 Disc 1 101. • Audience 8.8 - Very clear, and pretty bright, and that means the tape sacrifices the bottom end in favor of getting the clarity and separation of instruments - that might be considered the trade-off here. I would prefer more bass, but this is something one can add themselves, that is why I highly rate this recording. I think because it is so clear you can really season it to taste more so than if you had a cluttered, or muddy recording. Black Sabbath The Spectrum Philadelphia, PA 1981-12-04 Disc 1 101. E5150 102. • Brand New - Sealed  Sound quality on all releases on this label is excellent.
  • Stereo Soundboard 9.0 - While this show is also featured on another set here, we found an alternate version that seems to have a wider stereo separation, it does make it sound a tad brighter, but there are some trade-offs too, like a touch more hiss but it doesn’t bother so TURN IT UP! • Audience 9.3 - A beautiful wide, spacious, and clear recording of a band absolutely demolishing it. How much friggin’ better do you want it?  I’ve heard major label released live albums that didn’t sound as good as this.

  • Newcastle Audience 8.7 - A fairly bombastic recording that insists you pay attention to it. Thundering, massive, and thankfully listenable. It's not winning any awards for clarity, but it makes up for a lot of that with a representative recording of what you probably heard from the front row at this show. That leads me to say that while you would think there should be distortion, you can't really tell, but yes there just a bit of saturation deep in the bowels somewhere but I don't find it disturbing because it's low enough that you don't focus too much there. London Audience 8.6 - Dropping down one notch here, but there actually might be more mid-upper mid clarity with this recording. I think overall, this recording is a little less forceful, and there is no distortion at all on this. My ears rate this slightly below the Newcastle not because it is inferior quality, but because it is not quite as ballsy, and the trade-off is you have to give up a but of the balls in order to achieve more clarity, but sometimes ballsy is not a bad thing if it isn't too muddy.
