• Audience 9.5 - This is the good stuff! A well balanced and dynamic recording as close and clear as you can get to Susanna...ahhh...you can hear but not touch! I guess I'll have to settle for audio only but I can dream can't I? You will too, listen to this and you'll get me. Bangles Copenhagen Montmartre, DK 1986-02-17 01. Intro 02. In a Different Light 03. • Soundboard 10 - This is a rare "10" perfection rating that is not given out unless and until a recording stops you dead in your tracks and commands your undivided attention. You know it when you hear it, and this is about as good as it can get short of you being placed in the optimal spot at the venue and even then you may not be getting something as good as this! • Soundboard 9.4 - Great recording that gives you stunning detail and clarity with guitar, but here the bass sounds round and brassy and complements the guitar sound. In this mix, drums are also very tight, and the fact that the keyboards are panned to one side while guitar occupies the other really allows for an amazing separation of instruments, cohesive because it is expertly mixed but enough room between to allow the ears to focus on any one particular instrument (but I bet you'll not be able to block Ritchie out because he's living up to all the hype and then some in this one). • Audience 8.7 - Better than average, the tape has dynamics to it and even if vocals sound somewhat distant, the bass and guitar have a nice attack with the low end having that chest pounding quality which adds a lot to the electrifying atmospherics. Rory is particularly savage, playing what is probably a really wild crowd since it is where he is from. The performance is worth the entrance fee, the sound quality is good enough to warrant extended engagement. Full disclosure: There is some tape hiss present although it only becomes obvious when the band is not playing. • Soundboard 9.4 - All soundboard, includes Fresno 1983 and more (such as the rehearsals, again soundboard).
  • Soundboard 9.3 - Includes Radio City Music Hall 1993 which is off the hook killer! Multiple Soundboard sources, all great, all Prince in really excellent form.
  • Audience 9.4 - I think these recordings accurately translate the exact feel and sound in the venue, which is a great thing because this is the kind of emotional performance that only Prince could elicit...what I mean is, it's just him playing the piano and singing and yet it is mesmerizing, electrifying, and sometimes melancholy in a good way.

  • The Houston Punk/Grunge rock scene of the late 80's and early 90's produced a very diverse and highly talented assortment of bands spawned inside the 610 Loop surrounding the downtown metroplex. Chief among those was a ferocious punk rock (or better, "Burly Pig Rock") band called SPUNK. Fronted by Tod Waters, a mercurial character with non-stop energy, talent, and bravado who to this day still creates dynamic rock and roll (as evidenced by the newest release of his current band DIE FAST). This new release features a pair of never before available soundboard recordings from the downstairs room at the legendary Fitzgerald's Club.
  • Audience 8.8 - It's kind of a good thing that this concert is performed acoustically because the way this taper captured it I can't imagine an electric guitar, bass, and drums with the massive volume it would have been. That is because this sounds like taper was very close, and the hall acoustics are very "live", so, in essence because it is acoustic it isn't a loud, distorted mess...but could easily have been if this was any louder or closer to the stage. It's just at the breaking point volume wise, and there's the slightest touch of distortion affecting one frequency somewhere in the upper mid-range, this came close to being a problem but is thankfully kept at bay and never rose above the level of "minor annoyance" so all-in-all this becomes quite a keepsake memory for fans as it is a highly unusual type of gig.

  • Audience 9.4 - Well done, a consistent and even quality, captures the feel of the venue and since the equipment used seems to be very high quality, it allowed for plenty of headroom in the recording and that allows the listener to adjust volume and EQ to suit their tastes...not that it needs much. • Audience 9.2 - The first thing that hit me with this recording is the lovely feel of it, silky and round with a solid "thwack" of the kick drum to make you remember what it's like to stand in front of the mains at a stadium rock show. • Audience 9.0 - The only thing keeping this from attaining legendary status is the slight distortion present in a very specific middle to upper band in the frequency range. It's not a deal-breaker, it's in a place where you still get all the richness of the low end and the detail in the high end. The taper obviously used very good gear, so maybe the microphone he used and the location in the venue perhaps limited the recording in a way, because this is still a damn good tape but could have been a bona-fide must have.
