Audience 9.5 - A sparkling, vivid recollection of a moment in time when an evening of progressive rock music was being performed by masters of the craft, and it was sublime. A recording that has wonderful atmosphere, solid and deep, showcasing both guitar and bass in a manner so that each are distinct yet blended perfectly. Audience 9.7 - It takes the soundman a little while to dial it in, I mean, there's a lot going on so give him a break! Once he gets his mix right, it's off to the raises and one heck of a winning ticket. This is one of the best, Alan White has never been as fluid, even with the extended and complex jamming he's on every beat like a beastmaster. Steve Howe is in excellent form, in fact they all are...amazing! Audience 9.4 - This is a killer! First, it’s new to circulation and second, it’s fantastic sounding. Taper was right in the sweet spot with excellent gear, got the whole show…and yup, it’s a wonderful performance so this one checks all the boxes. Yes Long Beach Arena Long Beach, CA. Audience 9.5 - Outstanding, dynamic, and super clear recording that takes you right back to this night, in fact this tape probably sounds better than what you would have heard in your seats at the gig. Audience 9.5 - Brilliant recording in every respect, and one that I dare say rivals a lot of board tapes in dynamics and presence (definitely beats most boards in the presence dept.). Is that heresy? I don’t care if it is, I would take a tape like this over a board tape every time. Audience 8.7 - A recording that, while it does not open up to reveal a heck of a lot of depth, it is clear and present, with thump and some big arena bombast. The vocals do not appear up front in the mix, and low end is not highly defined although very present in a "feel" sense, the entirety of the sound can be roundly enjoyed though, as the relative clarity and presence of the band give this old tape credibility in the collector world. FM Broadcast 8.9 - This recording was done from the radio broadcast even though most people think it is from the reels (it is from a reel to reel, but a recording made from the broadcast). However, once the live over the air sound mix is sorted out, it becomes pretty darn good and even if the tape has some signs of age, it’s a great document and well worth getting.
