• Audience 8.7 A real surprise here because when I first came across this one I assumed it would be crap. Why had I not heard of it before if it was good?  Well, sometimes stuff just slips through the cracks I guess. Anyway what I am saying is that this is quite good, I began listening and made it through to the end and was thinking “this is a real find”. Van Halen Market Square Arena Indianapolis, IN. • Audience 9.2 A really nice sound on this tape, really captures the size and feel of the venue and all of the music sits nicely within a warm sound spectrum. • Soundboard 8.7 - The mix here tends to lean on a darker side (meaning more low end but not boomy) with guitar being clear enough but not the prominent instrument which is fine as this is totally all about ensemble and vastly different than anything he was doing with Deep Purple. That in itself makes this kind of odd, if he’s touring with Deep Purple yet managed to play some gigs with other people and sound so totally different musically, it’s really a zig zag routine here as the music is so all over the place in a good way. • Audience 8.8 - This rates highly as a new audio tape discovery from decades ago you might have low expectations but it’s a good, clear (but for Alice being a little low in the mix) and I would say powerful show in sound and performance. • Soundboard 9.2 & Audience 9.7 - Right away you are going to question this rating. Most of you will be familiar with the ’69 set as it is well traveled and professionally recorded and as such has a purity about it. Now, I like it, I like the purity and clarity and all of that, but just listen to the raw audience tape from 1972 and then tell me it doesn’t deserve the rating I give it. If you don’t hear the unbridled intensity, the electricity zapping the entire stadium and coming through your speakers directly into your head at full throttle, than just stop collecting right now and take up another hobby, maybe crochet or something. • Audience 8.7  - This tape has one thing really going for it, and that is it is surprisingly clear, maybe not super close to the stage but that means there’s no distortion…there’s also no boominess, and there’s some good live atmosphere. The mix is decent, and overall this tape can be really enjoyed by anyone but let me tell you why I love it – because they play my fave Thin Lizzy song “Opium Trail” so there ya go. • Audience 9.3 - A nicely done job this one. A warm sound, with emphasis on clear and crisp drums, bright vocals, detailed bass, and percussive keys but all in all really I find the sound mix relaxing and I sank right into this recording for the duration. • Audience 9.7 - Here’s one of those timeless artists who always sounds relevant no matter the time period. A 1985 concert is a 1975 concert is a 2005 concert – consistently excellent and never selling out integrity for anything approaching chart success. This recording puts you so close, so intimate it’s really like being there in the front row. Drums are in your living room, the piano is next to you, and Pat is your best friend. Wonderful! • Soundboard 9.3 - A pretty crisp sounding board tape, it definitely has not been gen’d down I can tell you that for sure! The band is tight man, they've always been but here they sound frighteningly precise. For me, 1994 is not that long ago in my mind – but damn it’s 29 years ago YIKES! • Audience 8.7 - This is a really nice and rare treat. I have been collecting every known Toronto show by Rush and this fills a nice place in the 70’s portion…and wow man I gotta say the quality is surprising since most of the other 70’s tapes are really not that great. I am not saying this is sparkling minty fresh, but it’s much more clear and present than the others and that is good for us because this is the earliest known AFTK performance and features tracks yet to be released. • Soundboard 9.0 - A classic old board from the fantastic 1976 European tour which has brought us a few amazing live works by this venerable band. Of course, by this time Ronnie is completely ingrained into the sound and style and one finds it hard to be overly critical of him compared to the very different Mick Taylor.
