• Soundboard 8.8 - a rather dusty old tape but oh how glorious it is! So many years later and this unpolished gem finally surfaces! You can tell it's age, sure, but the bones are all here and the band is ferocious. Opening for Black Sabbath, yeah, they had to bring it and history knows the rest. The inclusion of the recently surfaced film footage adds to the excitement of these finds, even if the footage is not the same San Diego show of the same year. • Audience 9.0 - This is actually how The Bangles should sound live. This is as punk as I have heard them. The guitar tone is killer, the drums are bare bones and perfect...vocals delivered directly into my ears like sweet butter spread on an ear of corn. • Audience 8.8 - A pretty decent recording which might be a touch on the thin side as the deepness of bass is lacking, but still enough meat on the bones to be worthy of the collection. Vocals come through clearly, drums do sound good too and the overall sound mix is very even. • Audience 8.8 - The sound of this recording owes almost all of its characteristics to the house PA sound. What I mean is this: The recorder very accurately captured exactly what this gig sounded like, and so if there is any particular thing that is not as good as it could be, we need to talk to the sound man. This tape captures this show in excellent quality, I would say the rating reflects more what the sound itself actually was like at this show - not great (for me I just did not love the drum sounds, and thought the guitars could be louder) but really very good. I think it is a matter of preference then, because some people might really like the way this show sounds coming out of the main PA system. • Audience 8.9 - A pleasant surprise to hear how good this one is. I was not expecting it, for some reason. • THE KINKS – New York 1978 (4CD)

    $36.49
New York 1978 Audience 9.3 - What a wild, out of control ride this is!  Not only perhaps one of the most engaging live Kinks bootleg recording (or at least in the top 5), It also may just be one of THE coolest bootleg audience recording of any band. Why? Why such praise?  It captures an intangible quality, that thing you can’t accurately describe with words…it’s a statement of sorts. We have a foundation rock band (first British wave) who have always been sort of disregarded but who refuse to pack it in, and here is why. These guys were punk before punk was a thought, and here they are a decade and change removed from their 60’s heyday, playing the birth place of US punk and they STILL can out punk the punks. Brilliant! Magical. A MUST! Buffalo 1978 Audience 8.7 - A very clear recording, good solid mid range and leaning toward emphasis on the high end which gives cymbals the little bit of crispiness that makes them heard and not washed out. Drums are highlighted and have a great sound too.
