Audience 8.7 - It’s getting harder and harder to find recordings such as this. For one thing, it’s something that I never heard before, either it has been hidden in someone’s shoebox or just got overlooked but either way it’s a GREAT find and sounds real good, with plenty of atmospherics without being washed out or boomy. To be honest, sometimes the overly jazzy keyboards of Moraz do conflict with the style and sound of the band but mostly he is able to provide the correct sounds during the key parts. Audience 8.5-9.1 All in all, for what you are privy to hear in this collection (some pretty darn rare bits!), it’s pretty good and listenable. It sounds to me that the band, from 1973 and again a few years later in 1975/78 REALLY progressed, it’s almost like night and day. Begun in Houston in 1969, brothers Duane and Bill Massey created an eclectic hard rocking progressive rock band that survived numerous line-up changes over the years and still exists to this day. An album, "Ruff Mix", was released in 1975 and features excellent arrangements augmented with blazing electric guitar by Richard Heath who went on to join Lic. This CD captures them in the early 80's where more emphasis was placed on hard guitar sounds, not necessarily metal but good Texas hard rock.
