• Soundboard 9.5 - Blistering and aggressive in all the best ways. Great guitar tone, and everything mixed expertly together to bring a very appealing soundscape.

  • Broadcast 9.3 - A little tiny bit of "old" tape syndrome is present at times, but because this is a well recorded show you hardly notice. There's an odd "click" present during quiet parts but that also disappears when the music is playing. A good one, for sure.

  • Audience 9.1 - Nothing to complain about here, the bass is clear and not boomy, guitars maybe not as up front and defined as you would prefer (the benefit of a soundboard tape) but it's present and fine for all intents and purposes. A good show, and good atmosphere - my verdict is that this would be a fine representation of the tour if you were to turn on a person not familiar with the band.

  • Audience 9.5 - a legendary recording that has been carefully treated by sensitive ears not wanting to revise history but to bring out every possible nuance, and succeeding. One to have for sure. The second show is also great, ranking a solid 9.2 but also well worth diving into.

  • Soundboard 9.7 - Amazing! Progressive rock played at a super high level infusing all kinds of rhythms and styles. A great sound mix, you hear every instrument well-balanced but some juicy, punchy bass at the low end really sets this one on a great path to your eardrums.

  • Audience 8.7 - Sounds like 1977, very dated but it's a very clear tape. Doesn't stray too much into the low end of the sound pool, but neither is it a "thin to win" tape. It's a mid range sound, a good one, but kind of narrow in some regards, almost like a REALLY good AM radio sound. I like it nonetheless.

  • Audience 8.5 - A slighly better than average tape with a lot of live atmosphere, and I don't know how large this hall was but it doesn't feel very large in the recording. Everything is very clear and good separation of instruments too, it can use just a touch more dynamic but otherwise it's strong. He's playing for his people, so you know you are gonna get his best stuff, and this is top shelf (with the crowd understandably right there for every call and response. Great crowd.

  • Audience 8.7 - Better than average, the tape has dynamics to it and even if vocals sound somewhat distant, the bass and guitar have a nice attack with the low end having that chest pounding quality which adds a lot to the electrifying atmospherics. Rory is particularly savage, playing what is probably a really wild crowd since it is where he is from. The performance is worth the entrance fee, the sound quality is good enough to warrant extended engagement. Full disclosure: There is some tape hiss present although it only becomes obvious when the band is not playing.

  • Audience 9.5 - Recently re-mastered and never sounding better, this old tape is full of life. The sound is bold, and really the only things keeping it from being even higher on the ratings scale is just some minor dtuff. I sometimes hear tape slippage or squeal but it's barely noticeable and infrequent, and there are some other small issues that occasionally pop up but since the sound is so great you just don't even notice any flaws. I think this one belongs in your must have list.

  • Audience 8.8 - A good early period show when he was probably in the UK for the first go-round. He made the most of it, with some BBC appearances and a huge gig at Reading which went off well. The recording here is very good, a little hissy and maybe not as clear as we would prefer but it has balls, and everyone is pretty distinct in the mix. The bass and drums are devastating, and Pat is ferocious! The BBC material is excellent.
