Audience 8.7 - Sounds like 1977, very dated but it's a very clear tape. Doesn't stray too much into the low end of the sound pool, but neither is it a "thin to win" tape. It's a mid range sound, a good one, but kind of narrow in some regards, almost like a REALLY good AM radio sound. I like it nonetheless.Weather Report Kursaal Bern, Switzerland September 26, 19771. Radio Broadcast 9.3 - A little dated sounding maybe but that is to be expected. The technical audio quality is great, and should please even the most discerning of tastes.RETURN TO FOREVER Theater De Oranjerie Roermond, NL March 24, 197401 Captain Señor Mouse 13:07 02 After The Cosmic Rain 10:20 03 Lenny White Solo 5:02 04 Theme To The Mothership 14:22 05 Space Circus - Part I 1:26 06 Space Circus - Part II After The Cosmic Rain (Coda) 13:53Chick Corea: Fender Rhodes, keyboards Bill Connors: guitars Stanley Clarke: bass Lenny White: drums -
Audience 8.5 - A slighly better than average tape with a lot of live atmosphere, and I don't know how large this hall was but it doesn't feel very large in the recording. Everything is very clear and good separation of instruments too, it can use just a touch more dynamic but otherwise it's strong. He's playing for his people, so you know you are gonna get his best stuff, and this is top shelf (with the crowd understandably right there for every call and response. Great crowd.Rory Gallagher SFX Hall Dublin, Ireland December 29, 1983Disc 101 - tuning, Follow Me 02 - Failsafe Day, band intros 03 - Double Vision 04 - Off The Handle 05 - Moonchild 06 - Lonely Mile 07 - Big Guns 08 - Hoodoo Woman 09 - Drinkin' Down The Bourbon 10 - Bad PennyDisc 201 - Jinx 02 - Tattoo'd Lady 03 - Out On The Western Plain 04 - Ride On Red, Ride On 05 - Wayward Child 06 - Shadow Play 07 - Philby (inc. Audience 8.7 - Better than average, the tape has dynamics to it and even if vocals sound somewhat distant, the bass and guitar have a nice attack with the low end having that chest pounding quality which adds a lot to the electrifying atmospherics. Rory is particularly savage, playing what is probably a really wild crowd since it is where he is from. The performance is worth the entrance fee, the sound quality is good enough to warrant extended engagement. Full disclosure: There is some tape hiss present although it only becomes obvious when the band is not playing.RORY GALLAGHER Rory's Stompin' Grounds National Stadium Dublin, Ireland December 28, 1978 Disc 1 1. Audience 9.5 - Recently re-mastered and never sounding better, this old tape is full of life. The sound is bold, and really the only things keeping it from being even higher on the ratings scale is just some minor dtuff. I sometimes hear tape slippage or squeal but it's barely noticeable and infrequent, and there are some other small issues that occasionally pop up but since the sound is so great you just don't even notice any flaws. I think this one belongs in your must have list.Pink Floyd Wishes, Echoes And Desires Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Uniondale (NY), United States 17th June 1975 Disc 1 1. Sheep 14:37 2. Audience 8.8 - A good early period show when he was probably in the UK for the first go-round. He made the most of it, with some BBC appearances and a huge gig at Reading which went off well. The recording here is very good, a little hissy and maybe not as clear as we would prefer but it has balls, and everyone is pretty distinct in the mix. The bass and drums are devastating, and Pat is ferocious! The BBC material is excellent.Pat Travers Band Reading Festival Thames-side Arena, Richfield Ave. Reading, UK. August 28th, 1976 1. Audience 8.8 - Loud keyboards and vocals, great drum sound at the large outdoor arena in Long Beach. Audience 8.4 - A muddier sound, not nearly as distinct as the Long Beach show but due to the scarcity of live Giuffria shows I would say this deserves your attention. On the positive, the guitar sounds pretty good and clear, and the drums are positioned well.Giuffria Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA 1985-02-01 01. Do Me Right 02. Don't Tear Me Down 03. Soundboard 9.7 - Crisp and absolutely clear with tremendous separation of instruments. I did not find this cold or sterile at all, I thought it was mixed so well that plenty of feeling and texture is within these sacred frequencies. I guess I have to admit that the 1980 Tour was not a sellout, maybe a branching out but still very worthy of a true fan's admiration.GENESIS Forum de Montréal Montreal, Quebec 19th June 1980 Disc 1 01. Soundboard 9.7 - Both shows are superb soundboard recordings featuring a band really at the peak of their powers. I think once Lotus came out, everything had really become solid and a little experimental perhaps but ultimately incredible. The touring only cemented an already tight band.Santana 1974 Journals II - The Path Is Clear Disc 1 Selland Arena Fresno, CA September 15, 1974 01 Going Home - A-1 Funk - Every Step Of The Way 02 Black Magic Woman - Gypsy Queen 03 Oye Como Va 04 Mirage 05 Just In Time To See The Sun 06 Bambele 07 Give And Take 08 Incident At Neshabur 09 Soul Sacrifice 10 Samba Pa Ti Disc 2 Academy Of Music New York City, NY October 13, 1974 01 Going Home 02 Incident At Neshabur 03 Gypsy Queen 04 Samba Pa Ti 05 Just In Time To See The Sun 06 Bambele 07 Savor 08 Toussaint L'Overture Carlos Santana: guitar, percussion, vocals Ndugu" Leon Chancler: drums Jules Broussard: flut, sax David Brown: bass Leon Patillo: keyboard, vocals Armando Peraza: percussion, vocals Tom Coster: keyboards, vocals Jose "Chepito" Areas: drums -
Audience 9.0 - Great document! Live, exciting, forceful and driving. This is a great find! It does have the tell-tale audience tape feel but for how well the bass sounds because if it was done on cassette, it had to be a professional deck, so I am inclined to believe this was done on reel to reel. Audience 8.5 - Some tape noise present, and some issues with the tape containing the sheer volume of the PA’s when the band is in full swing, but really this is a pretty “live” tape that gives you a great sense of the moment. Atmosphere is pretty cool, the sound is clear for the most part excepting the somewhat cluttered bandwidth at high volume. Worth getting.
