• Audience 9.5 - Hard to really improve upon this one - it's lovely in all regards. Great, clean highs and round lows with a great mid range. It's highlighted by a respectful crowd that rarely intrudes while the band is performing but very enthusiastic between songs. Wish I was there. This recording allows me to be there and hear what I missed. • Audience 8.4 - A solid tape that sounds like it has been remastered to remove hiss, but artifacts remain. I imagine though that it sounds better than before, because it is clear that there is something to work with here.
  • Audience 8.8 - Spacious and lush, a full spectral sound range to wrap your ears around. This is what I would call a fully immersive live recording and it’s all thanks to a fan with great gear and a passion for preservation. Great stuff!

Audience 8.4 - Let’s face it, ever since the movie came out, recordings like these take on new significance. I just find it fascinating to hear, knowing the back story a little more. This is a very decent recording with primary focus on vocals and drums, with guitar and bass a little behind them but present enough to be able to enjoy this. You can turn the volume up, levels are good - the taper was careful!
  • Audience 7.7–8.1 - Ranges in quality mainly because it gets off to a rough start but gets progressively better.
  • Audience 7.2 - Can hear everything, but it’s lo-fi sounding at best. Add Equalizer and season to taste.
  • Audience 8.4 - Unfortunately this is not the best recording. It’s a big stadium, but the flaws are not the typical big stadium flaws of too far away and echoey, rather a preponderance of bass. At times it lets up though, I mean, the rest of the band comes through (vocals being most audible) and you can hear what is going on but you have to round down some of that bass. A mastering job was done, and a lot of the boom was mitigated, and that is nice because this is the one tour that seems to be lacking in decent recordings (Jazz Tour). I’m thinking this one is for Queen completists, but with such nice artwork accompanying this title it’s worth grabbing if there is a discount going on. • New York 1975 Audience 8.3 - Not particularly clear, but recording does have some force behind it that propels the sound into your ears, making it slightly better than your average, or mediocre 70’s audience tape, and that is really good because this is a rare one – only 4 known to circulate recordings from the US Sheer Heart Attack tour. Hear the band just before they exploded! Santa Monica 1975 Audience 8.8 - A very good recording of the rarely captured US Sheer Heart Attack tour. Soundboard 9.4 - A fantastic stereo board tape! I would have preferred more guitar in the mix, but it’s great nonetheless.
  • Audience 9.5 - Why such a high rating? Because this sounds as if you are standing right in front of the stage, on Brian May’s side, and there’s no distortion. Amazing. You are there, it’s a feast for the ears…it’s ear candy…have some!
  • Audience 8.9  - Another great tape of the band’s News of the World tour, this time the second night at the LA Forum in March of that year. It’s just great, it’s a band that knows they are killing it every night. I never get tired of listening to the bravado. • Audience 9.5 - Many of you will be surprised by my rare high rating for an audience tape…but man, I gotta tell you, this is 100% justified. Yes, it’s sonically really nice, but it delivers that magical quality that real fans know about and is kind of hard to explain the uninitiated. Let me try: you feel like you are seated there at the show, you feel the anticipation, you know what is about to happen yet can’t quite believe how actually incredible it truly is. Enough hyperbole, you get it, I love this one. But to be fair, the recording quality is more like a 9.2, still great, but it’s the atmosphere, the spaciousness, the rolling drums that seem to pan across the speakers, the great sound mix, all of it equals pure magic and a legitimate 9.5. • Audience 8.7 - I want to rate this higher because of what it represents and what it will do for you, the listener. I want to rate it based on more than just audio fidelity, which in this case is very good for the time, and technically you get everything you need here – excellent separation of instruments, good clarity, good atmosphere…but dynamically it sits in a middle range place and doesn’t offer deep, rich lows or crisp highs and we are spoiled nowadays so we might complain about that but NOT ME! This is KILLER! When was the last time a Queen live recording caused the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up? I can’t adequately express the perfection this performance is, spine-tingling, electric, orgasmic, all of this and more. If listening to this show doesn’t move you, you are dead inside. • Audience 7.4 - Very enthusiastic audience, they are loud, music is there somewhere.
  • Audience 7.7 - Nice for a large stadium bootleg! Interesting recording, because it sounds like the guitar solo pans to one side, while rhythm guitar is center channel – but it’s an audience bootleg, so my guess is maybe two mics were used to get that to happen.
  • Audience 7.4 - Roughly the same quality for each show. Both present complete 1974 shows, certainly must have’s for any dedicated fan, and even though they are only slightly above average, they are both good listens.
  • Audience 9.3 - Wow! Simply incredible, an audience tape with more dynamics than most professional recordings, and a fantastic performance and set list!
  • Audience 8.7 - This is just a dandy, with that large hall sound but NO annoying reverb or echo, just vibe. File alongside Boston 76, which is one of the very best of the tour.
  • Audience 9.3 - Did you miss Queen in their prime? Don’t worry, because now you can be there again by listening to this show. I think every English band that plays Boston elevates their game, perhaps it is because Boston feels like home to them…it is kind of quaint and vaguely British I guess.
  • Audience 9.6 - Stunning! The band is on fire, the recording is brilliant. More like this please!
  • Berlin 1971 - Audience 7.6 and Pro 8.7 - Material originates from an average audience tape but two songs come from a pro TV recording (most likely). • Audience 8.6 - Small club vibe and really good sound with an emphasis on percussion clarity and presence. Recording leans to the mid and upper end but it’s not too brittle there, so it’s very comfortable but can use some added low end anyway. Aside from that, this is quite good. But in 1982, the band were reduced to a four-piece. The Furs did find success in the US with their next release, 1981's Talk Talk Talk, which included the original version of "Pretty in Pink", which was later re-recorded for the 1986 movie soundtrack "Pretty in Pink". This movie would help launch Molly Ringwald's acting career.

  • Audience 7.2 - I would have preferred the guitar higher in the mix, so what happens is before the band starts playing, the audio sounds perfect, then when they start, the levels change and sound, for whatever reason, sounds weak, or it is the mix. It’s weird, because the drums sound fine, the bass is present, and then vocals but where is the keyboard and guitar? They are there, you can hear them, but they are too far back.
  • Audience 8.2 - A recent re-mastering has helped this old tape IMMENSELY. I mean, it took it from a 7.3 to an 8.2 which is significant. For that reason alone, people who have had this one should now upgrade.

  • Studio Quality 9.5 - This collection was interesting to me because it featured a lot of music I was unfamiliar with, so there is seemingly endless amounts of it but that is fine with me! • Audience 9.3 - Sit back, crank it, and enjoy. Wonderful!
  • Soundboard 9.6 - A great sound happening here, but what I really love most about it is the brassy, killer bass. Obviously it’s everything, it’s all great, but Prince, even being mainly onto a funky, keyboard, drum, bass approach on this tour (guitar is present in places just not emphasized) which might not be everyone’s cup of tea, still is able to engage this old rock and roller. • Soundboard 9.6 - Excellent in every respect, including the fact that there’s some audience bleeding into stage mics which in my opinion immensely help soundboard recordings from becoming too sterile. No chance of that happening here, so what you get is simply wonderful including excellent performances by everyone. • Audience 9.5 - Fantastic presence (after the first song) and good depth, but what I love most is the atmosphere. You get just enough audience to make you feel as if you are there. A great one!
