  • PRO Radio Broadcast  9.4 - Excellent tight, warm, sweet spot all the way through here! To sound engineers – this is how you record and mix a bass guitar and drums.
  • Audience  9.2 - KANSAS opened up for BAD COMPANY on this exciting night in 1976. We have that show listed as well.
  • CD 1 - Pro  8.8  (and the best disc of this set) CD 2 - Audience  6.4  (possibly the worst of this set, but if you turn it up louder it sounds better actually. Levels are low!) CD 3 - Audience  7.2  (a big step up from previous disc, levels a little low but not so much, kind of thin, gets crowded when the band is loud.) CD 4/5 - Audience  7.7  (good stereo separation, everything is clear, a decent recording!) • Audience  8.8 - Bright and very clean recording!
  • The twins Mark and Clark Seymour (and a third brother on Moog and assorted keys) have a very long history in music. They may be little known to the general public, but once upon a time they were "the next big thing"...until loads of cocaine, unscrupulous industry execs, and bad decisions got the better of them. The story is a long one so no way to repeat it here, suffice it to say this was a band that could have given Queen a run for their money. Carnegie were at their prime during the years 1977 and 1978, with demo recordings, record contracts, shows, and even occasional TV appearances -- this 2CD set gives you a rare glimpse into what could have, what should have been.
  • Formed in Dallas, Brat were originally known as Cottonmouth (beginning in 1972). They went through a line-up change and a name change in 1975 and became a staple in the local Dallas rock scene. Known as a hard rocking covers band, they interspersed their own songs into their set list and eventually did some demos but nothing became of it. The fact is, they were a gritty, powerhouse live band!  They breathed fire and fury into their very eclectic cover songs, and inspired hard rocking originals. This CD comprises their only known studio demos and live tracks.
  • CD 1 - Soundboard  9.2 CD 2 - Audience  8.9
  • Audience  8.3 - A great effort by the taper to capture and preserve a rock concert in his hometown with what sounds like pretty good gear. The levels are a touch low, but the fact that everything is pretty clear and there’s no distortion at all, well I tip my hat to this guy! A good one.

  • Soundboard  8.7 - It’s fine just sounds a little dated to me, all the instruments are present which is cool since a lot of times Glenn’s guitar is mixed low or struggles to be heard.
  • Pro Radio Broadcast  9.2 - Sounds very much like a product of its time, and, it is rather good and Aldo shreds convincingly.
  • Dallas, TX. based hard rock/jazz fusion group heavily influenced by Jean Luc Ponty and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Enjoyed a brief but fruitful life span between the years 1975 and 1977, and having at least two significant line-up changes. Bassist Roy Vogt would later go on to find much success touring with legendary singer Englebert Humperdinck and teaching and recording many compositions in Nashville, most notably with guitarist extraordinaire Stan Lassiter.
  • Soundboard  9.5 - Ass-kicking greatness!
  • Audience 8.7 - This is a decent tape that delivers some sense of the venue and the power of the band in a live setting, it's not "relaxed" sounding but definitely hard rock music at volume...but that being said there is some slight harmonic distortion somewhere in the upper mid band range, and if you had to choose where your live recording suffered, it would be here because it doesn't do as much damage to the sound taken as a whole as you might suppose. It's still a really good recording...with limitations. • FM Broadcast 8.9 - Good because it's a broadcast, but there is some compression so you do not get the crisp, soaring highs and separation of instruments is not perfect. It's a somewhat "rough" professional recording and I am not talking about just age or generation of tape either - some of this is probably in the actual recording and/or live sound mix. That being said - it's a really good tape nonetheless and worthy of your collection. Blue Oyster Cult Centrum Worcester, MA. September 24, 1982 01. Pre-show interview 02. • Brand New - The classic Venom Performance recorded in early ‘90s at Marquee Club only available on VHS tape. With Tony “Demolition Man” on vocals, this show represents the best of Venom Mark II.
  • Audience 8.8 - A rather good tape, it's kind of rare to find something like this just because of the extreme volume and what not that metal presents to taping gear - but this one shines. Sometimes the rhythm guitar seems to drop out a little in the mix, every now and then but that might be a PA or mix thing. • Soundboard 9.4 - A lovely bright and clear sound, only noise I hear is between songs. I also love the fact that this dates from a period where there's not an abundance of Kansas recordings. • Audience 8.7 - Loud and brassy, with some distortion on the cymbals at the high end. Taper must have been in the front row on the PA side of the stage. That being said, this is what makes this recording frightening to the ears, a terrifying journey into the unrelenting power and charisma of ELP in their mid 70's prime. There is nothing sedate about this live concert experience, and because it was recorded on very good equipment, even despite the overwhelming loudness of it, it's a rather true representation. Side Note: Jerusalem is a song with more mellow passages and here this recording absolutely shines, jumping quickly to a 9.2 rating and actually remaining better even during the loud segments as it starts to even out - this could be due to taper either moving further back, or making some other minor adjustment. Something certainly is changing with the recording as tape noise increases but the distortion lessens, this could mean he lowered the gain, so the volume had to be boosted during the transfer as his recording levels were much lower. Either way, it had a net positive effect. Unfortunately not the complete show. • Audience 9.6 - Fantastic, spacious and fully enveloping sound with good, solid dynamics. Also I found the audio mix to be above average. Not boomy, all instruments present and clear, and Geddy placed in the middle as another instrument. Great stuff. • Audience 8.4 - This is not hi-fi by any stretch, but what it represents is a rollicking good time as only this band was capable of doing. In the mix is mostly Ron Wood and Rod Stewart, with a overdriving bass backbone that forces the intensity of the sound volume. It's a full bodied tape, no bones about it. With modern mastering tools, it has been brought under control...somewhat. Hey, I have heard MUCH worse than this, and once the ears settle in to it, what you have is a recording that delivers the fun and electricity of The Faces. • Audience 9.8 - Ethereal, intense, clear, atmospheric, and just about as good as your ears can perceive an audio recording to be. The sound mix is just spot on, and each instrument occupying it's own space just allows you to take a minute here and there to focus on whatever instrument you want...but always drawing back to Steve because let's face it he's a total badass. • Soundboard 9.1 - A somewhat dated sounding tape (a touch of hiss, and a very slight amount of distortion on the cymbals during at least the first 20 minutes as the soundman dials it in) but it is a treat to hear these songs in such good quality. My review is subjective, I think it's a fine recording but I have to nitpick seeing as there's a very steady supply of Santana soundboards. • Audience 8.4 - A distant recording without a lot of dynamics but the audio is clear enough especially vocals and guitar. Low end is not in abundance but the bass notes are audible and distinct which helps this tape become something collectors should want, it is, after all, a 1975 concert and fills that part of the collection. The take-away? A guitar-centric tape, a great show, worthy of the collection but not winning any awards for scintillating dynamics. • Soundboard 8.8 - Not the best mix, you won't get everything in a vibrant, democratically mixed way but even so it's going to deliver in other ways for you. The vocals are living room clear, organ and drums occupy the next level of bandwidth, and then comes bass...leaving guitars in the background until they are brought forward during solos or during some of the songs where guitar is a key component. It's spotty there, but seems to come and go in the mix (when it comes it is fine, but then it oddly disappears). • Audience 8.9 - Quite an interesting tape, the proximity to the stage makes the energy palpable - good mix of both guitars and the amazing tone they had at this time. I am happy to say that this is well balanced, with a decent sonic quality that makes it more interesting to the ears than a board tape. • Glasgow - Audience 8.7 - A great tape to hear the very beginnings of Ozzy's solo career. and the brilliance of Randy Rhoads. Clear, and decent separation of instruments. Newcastle - Audience 8.5 - Slightly muddy but it has the bones of a good tape recording. I feel like if this old tape was re-mastered with AI tools it would shine. Nothing is buried beyond salvation here, in fact I would say if you just keep listening your ears adjust to the sound and it gets better and better. Thankfully guitars are distinct, vocals too, it is really the bottom end that is a bit diffuse and rumbly. • Audience 8.8 - Anytime you get a halfway decent sounding GFR show you grab it, because let's face it these guys were just balls to the wall loud and normal taping gear could not handle it. But, every once in a while you find something...and again it serves to remind just how badass this band was. This is a really good recording considering how mind-numbingly loud it had to be there. It is not clear as a bell, but it's got some great qualities and is clear enough to hear each band member well...and the POWER geez, oh man it's insane here. • Released by the reformed band in 2013 in a very limited run on CD-R, this is actually that same title re-worked. The audio is the same but the package is expanded, the original was a very simple, black and white 4 panel sheet with nothing printed inside and the disc placed in without any protection. It was a CD-R burn in fact, and basically my understanding was it wasn't even sold but handed out to people, family, friends, fans, etc. Not even sure how many they made, probably less than 1,000 for sure. They are all gone now, but this re-worked version supersedes that with the upgraded packaging.

  • Brand New - Live Marquee Club November 29th, 1985 and demos early '85 and late '86. Butler formed a short-lived group in 1984 after leaving Black Sabbath for the first time. Butler wrote some songs intended for the project, but the group did not record or release any material. This mid-80s project featured a fascinating hodgepodge of players as the bass legend was joined by Sabbath's touring keyboardist Jezz Woodroffe and Persian Risk's vocalist Carl Sentence among others. The band was never able to release anything beyond a couple of demos that remain a fascinating relic.
