Audience 8.7 - A loud, loud tape recording that gets right up to the bleeding edge of break up at full volume but thankfully does not go off the edge…too much! So, I have to say about this one, it’s terribly exciting because it has a super realistic feel where you can sense the size of the venue, the air of excitement in the crowd, pretty much all the hallmarks of an exceptional capture. It does get too loud in places, so be warned. -
Audience 7.8 - Recorded pretty close to the mains, a touch of distortion on some parts, and some tape breaking up due to being overloaded with sound, and vocals a little buried, but even though I can go on with the faults, I found myself sticking with it and I adjusted and I enjoyed this show. Roger is in particularly fine form, really sounds determined on this stage. Tapers talk, tapers cough, but I deal with them, the show sounds incendiary. -
Audience 8.8 - Solid right in the middle, with perhaps a little bit of “darkness” in the mix towards the low end that causes a fractional amount of over saturation but this is a fine recording. Let me put it this way, something like this seems to have been “authorized” or at least recorded with the knowledge of the artists. It’s placed too well in the venue, and no audience interference you have to think they knew it was being recorded. -
FM Radio Broadcast 8.5 - The tape source shows its age, and then there’s the telltale radio compression as well so you get a reasonably clear sound with a lack of high end clarity, occasional minor drop outs, that sort of thing. It’s not that bad, I expect better of an FM broadcast but there’s not much out there from this station, this is a pretty rare thing, and the band, while very good, never achieved a lot of commercial success. They are traditional AOR rock that sometimes reminds me of Bob Seger or Meatloaf. -
Pro Pre-Broadcast Master FM 9.7. It’s hard not to be drawn in to this performance; actually it’s Linda who does all the heart stealing here. Wow, I’d consider collecting all of the live shows at this point because I never knew how much genuine charm and warmth this lady had, and transferred to audiences effortlessly. Oh, and the songs are good too! -
Audience 7.5 - Sounds like this was remastered because there’s a lot more music now to sink your teeth into. Is it great? No, it’s average with a welcomed lean towards upper mid-range allowing for guitars to be prominent and even bass is heard, as if it was a second guitar almost. A good one for 1977 tour completists because quite frankly the band is really playing well here. -
Audience 8.7 - This is the one that every self respecting Zep head HAS to have, and probably already does. That being said, if you don’t have it, and maybe you are not a huge Zep person or maybe you are new to the live Led Zep world, do yourself a favor and get this now. It’s only one of the most legendary gigs ever captured on tape. -
Soundboard 9.5 - Does it get any better than this? No. That is the simple answer. Warning: You’d better strap yourself in for this one folks, I am not kidding.
