Audience 8.3 - Nothing overtly wrong here, but it is a tad on the hot side with a very tiny amount of break up in the highs where it is maybe pushing so hard, this could be tape limitation. It’s a good recording nonetheless. -
Audience 9.8 - Your ears will be telling you this HAS to be a soundboard, then the song ends and you hear the audience right next to you and you say to yourself “thank goodness I picked this one up” yes even though it’s an audience tape it will BLOW YOUR MIND it’s so good. As I listened, I could not help but think this music really reminds me of Lou Reed, with less bratty New York attitude and more gay San Francisco. Audience 8.0 - Crisp and loud mids/highs with a little lacking in bottom but very enjoyable nonetheless. The band sometimes sounds a little unsure, but the energy is great. -

Audience 8.4 - Very rare show, perhaps slightly on the thin side but screaming guitar and vocals stand out. A must have for any Aldo Nova fan! -

Soundboard 8.7 - It’s fine just sounds a little dated to me, all the instruments are present which is cool since a lot of times Glenn’s guitar is mixed low or struggles to be heard. -
Audience 8.6 -A sonic blast not held back by some of the typical limitations such as the actual venue itself which is notorious for sounding more like a gymnasium than a concert hall. Tape cannot be faulted for being muddy, it’s not very clean, but that is due to proximity to PA and unprofessional gear. That being said, the tape scores high in terms of sheer electricity and fun…once your ears adjust, yeah, but what a ride! Band did not know they were being taped by someone so I guess this is a pretty honest performance. They sound very primitive, underground, gritty…and I guess that is why Cooper made changes because perhaps that style and sound was getting outdated on such a large caliber tour. Personally, I much prefer this honest, maybe if a bit more crude, band sound. Soundboard 8.9 - It’s a very clean, good board but it features a heavy reverb sound, but it’s probably natural reverb. Still an interesting kind of atmospheric recording. -

Audience 7.3 - A rip-roaring, over the top onslaught of greasy rock and roll captured painfully close to the PA. Sounds like this may be lifted from vinyl, and there’s tape noise artifacts present. But, all that taken into account, this is still a very good time and not painful on the ears despite the volume (I think someone attempted to remaster this but it can use one more time). -
Studio Quality 8.9 - The quality is great but you have to get past the first song and a half as there is some static present. Once you move past those tracks you get some very interesting studio rehearsals and outtakes. I love the rawness here, it’s very visceral and powerful. Audience 8.3 - A great effort by the taper to capture and preserve a rock concert in his hometown with what sounds like pretty good gear. The levels are a touch low, but the fact that everything is pretty clear and there’s no distortion at all, well I tip my hat to this guy! A good one. -
Pro 9.0 - This recording is great for the time period but it seems that it has been remastered to remove what was probably a great deal of hiss. There’s some left here, but I gotta say this is still one hell of a nice recording. -
Audience 8.7 - A tape that finds balance even with the somewhat squashed sound, because it is pretty clear regardless. Fills a lot of gaps in my Alice Cooper collection as these Lace And Whiskey tour shows seem few and far between compared to other tours. -
Audience 8.8 - This rates highly as a new audio tape discovery from decades ago you might have low expectations but it’s a good, clear (but for Alice being a little low in the mix) and I would say powerful show in sound and performance. Soundboard 9.0 - A mix that captures the band firing on all cylinders, certainly you have to say that Alice Cooper had total command of performance throughout his career and if you worried that his drinking might affect him onstage, well listen to these early shows. I hear no signs of inebriation. In fact this is extremely tight and strong performance wise. -

FM Broadcast 8.8 - A tape that sounds…1978. That doesn’t mean it’s bad at all, it’s just a rather dated sounding broadcast to my ears. That means it kind of captures the time period rather well, and the quality itself is pretty good, but not exhibiting the usual dynamic of an FM broadcast. Not enough 1978 era tapes of excellent quality though, so grab this one. Soundboard 8.8 - A very old sounding tape that received a recent “facelift” giving it some more punch while reducing tape noise (without compromising any high end). What you end up with is another very good early performance (whilst the band was still doing some Pretties For You numbers) in very good quality. I never get tired of the early Alice Cooper stuff, even if I still don’t understand “Sun Arise” ha ha!
