Audience 8.8 - I am SO relieved that the sound quality here is good, because for me I do not really collect Tom Petty recordings, I mean I like him fine but I just had way to much other stuff I needed to listen to...BUT if you pointed me to something different, I suppose I would take you up on it and so that is what this is. I must say, it's really interesting! Quality-wise it's really fine, and very immersive (yes, you know you are rubbing shoulders with a boatload of people) but I find it wasn't off-putting at all. Now for the great news! The parts with Stevie Nicks are as great as you would have hoped them to be. Yes!!! Soundboard 9.3 - This is not the complete show, but what we do have is required listening. Some minor technical flaws present on a couple of occasions, these aren't deal-breakers though. London Audience 8.7 - A decent recording that remains consistent throughout. Everything comes through, albeit not with a lot of detailed anything, just good overall clarity and decent mix. I would commend the taper because I know he had to have battled with the Hammersmith Odeon acoustics, loud audience, louder band, and consumer grade gear and yet still managed a good capture. Brussels Audience 8.9 - This is a strong recording and finds the band performing at a very high level. Good sound balance, and though you get a sense of the sheer volume, it does not stress the tape. Soundboard 9.6 - There's not much better than having these early Ghost board tapes. This is just one of those bands that you need the tone to go with the whole presentation - classy songwriting, unique vocals, superior musicianship. all said this is a band that has great tone. Audience 8.9 - One of the early efforts by Dan Lampinski to capture live music with good equipment. It's a decent job, you can tell clearly that the guy had a knack for it. The atmosphere he managed to get on tape was always very realistic and managed to remain unobtrusive even if it got loud. Audience 9.5 - Astounding for a 1970 era audience tape, it's got amazing atmosphere and plenty of headroom. The balance here is really good with vocals where they should be, which is very up front, but drums sound fantastic here and the piano sounds perfectly mixed between the two. I can't find too much to complain about with this one. Fantastic! Audience 8.8 - This here is a very nice tape! It also shows the band firing on all four cylinders (yes, I am afraid this is only a 4 banger but this engine puts out more horsepower than a 12 cylinder Lambo!). Good looking package, good sounding gig, great performance, legendary venue...I could go on. Led Zeppelin Olympia Stadium Detroit, Mich. January 31, 1975 Disc 1 1. Rock And Roll 3:54 2. Soundboard 9.4 - After the sound mix gets sorted out, and the vocals are brought up in the mix, this recording really takes off and blossoms beautifully. Deep rich bass, and a nice overall blend of the drums while highlighting the guitar. A lovely live document. Audience 2 Source Matrix 9.2 - The best part here is how awesome the bass and drums sound together - so massive yet enough detail to separate them nicely. Guitars and vocals occupy essentially the same space in the mix, neither rising high enough to hog the bandwidth. So, all in all I think this matrix gives us the best possible audio of this show and that is a really good thing!

Audience 8.7 - A recording that, while it does not open up to reveal a heck of a lot of depth, it is clear and present, with thump and some big arena bombast. The vocals do not appear up front in the mix, and low end is not highly defined although very present in a "feel" sense, the entirety of the sound can be roundly enjoyed though, as the relative clarity and presence of the band give this old tape credibility in the collector world. Audience 8.8 - A very pleasant, easy on the ears recording. There's a lot of positive atmosphere and some mild audience participation but this is definitely one you can get into.
