Audience 8.7 - It’s difficult to express sometimes to people who maybe did not start collecting until the digital age what it is like for us old cats to be listening again to a recording we first heard on cassette…and could barely listen to they were so awful, muddy, gen’d down, etc. – and now they show up like maidens to the prom. This old recording sounds like years of mud and grime were wiped away, still not great but man what a difference! The bonus tracks from Anaheim got the same treatment but the original tape was recorded from further back so is not as good as the Detroit, but historically seems more important being that it is with Jeff Beck. I think this stuff here is like finding unpolished diamonds…maybe a little bit dirty but they are invaluable and hold beauty in and of themselves. Aerosmith Cobo Arena Detroit, MI. Soundboard 9.9 - This nearly brought me to tears. I always knew this band could reach the highest level of quality, in performance, in tone, in showmanship, and here it is. Yeah, sure, I know what you are thinking: “it’s mid 80’s Aerosmith, it’s the doldrums of rock, it’s a washed up bunch of druggies” but I have to tell you that if this marks a “comeback” then it’s the most amazing comeback I have ever heard. I’ve heard tons of live Aerosmith and I take this show over ALL of them. Just listen to how everyone plays off each other, how well they know each other it's like the magic has returned and they know it. Aerosmith The Orpheum Theater Boston, MA. Radio Broadcast 9.1 - A rare find, this is a band that can be best defined as an eclectic, world music progressive band that features some ethnic style music that occasionally fuses in some nice, tasty jazzy electric guitar rock stylings. Audience 8.6 - A resurrected gem of a show, not killer sound as one might expect but it’s definitely not garbage. I started playing it and could not stop. It’s just one of those things that if you understand you are listening to something that should not exist in the first place, that sounds reasonably good given the time and circumstances, and delivers in every way for performance and historical accuracy (live performance being about the most realistic snapshot of a particular performer at that time) well then you will appreciate what this is. Studio Quality 9.7 - Here is Prince’s rookie card! It’s quite interesting to hear, a pretty well rounded set of recordings musically, with maybe that late 70’s dated sound (still red hot) but it’s hard to say if I heard it in 1977 would I have thought this artist would develop into such an immense talent. Audience 8.7 - There are more recordings of this band pre-1983 that post, which I find rather odd. I found this recordings to be adequate to hear what they were like in 1983, and they were good, but the recording does not highlight the vocals, rather on guitar and drums which is fine but I love this band’s vocal acrobatics and want them front and center. Audience 8.8 - A fierce sounding tape that has been re-mastered and shows some depth and instrument separation that previously was not there. The vocals at times are drowned out in the sheer onslaught of bass, drums, and guitars. The band even reminds a little of Deep Purple (check out “Every Hungry Woman” as a prime example) with keyboards featuring prominently so be ready for what is best described as heavier than normal Allman Brothers. FM Radio Broadcast 8.9 - This is not a typical radio broadcast, it is very raw and in-your-face loud! That makes it much more enjoyable to me. The kick drum and bass are nicely present in this mix – but are not boomy or obnoxious so this is a great way to hear instrumentation normally not very defined. This helps make this show sound even heavier now that a solid bottom end is going on. Iron Maiden "Maiden America" Summerfest Henry W. Studio Quality 9.7 - Overall the quality is superb, a couple of songs maybe just a couple notches down but none here that is less than excellent. Obviously these versions are not what was on the album but some are pretty close, just some different mixes, maybe alternate guitar workouts and maybe Mick is trying some different vocalizations but it’s still another angle on a great album. Audience 8.7 - A good tape, not one that Prince purists might visit often due to how many great soundboards there are but I’ll tell you what, I enjoyed this one. The quality evens out and reveals a tape that may not present a super clear soundfield but it does deliver plenty of realism and vibe. Pro Recording 9.1 - The engineers for this live recording opted to not close mic so you have a live recording with lots of atmosphere and probably sounding truer to the actual event than a pure soundboard. The bass is well recorded here, normally you’d expect the sound mix to favor only guitar as that is what the fans are wanting most – but here the mix is rather democratic. Good job! Studio Demos 8.3-8.7 - Quality ranges from just listenable to pretty decent. However what you get here is quite illuminating – I had no idea this band began as a sort of gothic blend of Black Flag, Misfits, and Motorhead. I hear punk influence all through these demos. I think they got onto a cool, raw, guttural vibe and thought “let’s run with this” and it took them down the metal path. Audience 8.8/Soundboard 9.3 - Very good audience source for the Philly show, perhaps maybe just somewhat lacking in bottom end and of course it’s denser than the clean channel mix of a board tape or broadcast but for 1984, I don’t know I think it’s pretty good. Audience 9.4 - If you can’t get into this rollicking, electric southern fried punk and roll then you aren’t alive. This kicks total ass! Great sound quality and great atmosphere combined with a band that was unfairly ignored by the media at a time when new music and new attitudes were flourishing. I can listen to this all day…Fantastic! Audience 9.4 - Superb capture! There’s nothing I would change about this tape, it’s got a wonderful electric vibe and strong depth that leaves you wanting more. A great testament to the song craft of Gary Wright. Gary Wright Boston Music Hall Boston, MA USA 11 October 1975 01 -Love Is Alive 02 -Blind Feeling 03 -Dream Weaver 04 -Can't Find The Judge 05 -Kyle 06 -I Know A Place 07 -keyboard solo 08 -drum solo 09 -instrumental 10 -Are You Weepin'

Audience 9.1 - Atmospheric, where even if it may be recorded from somewhere in the middle, the immersive experience has been well captured. Vocals sound lush and full, and percussion is crisp and well defined with a nice, rounded bottom end holding it all down. This is a decent recording that allows the listener to imagine where they are sitting and how the event sounded, the actual P.A. sound. Audience 9.4 - If the house itself sounds great, and your taping with high quality equipment (most likely a small digital unit with a good, dynamic mic and level control), then your result will be something like this. A lot of detail comes through, as does, from time to time, a rowdy audience – that adds to the atmosphere and thankfully never wrecks the audio recording. Soundboard 9.5 - Spectacular sound, ferocious performance! This is, without a doubt, one absolute must-have for anyone with even a remote interest in Judas Priest…but I’ll take it even further and say ANYONE who loves hard rock should get this one. Pro Studio 9.8 - Glorious sound quality, and the intimate setting of the Record Plant radio broadcasts back in the day is just perfect here because we all know what happened to this guy’s career after Margaritaville took off…would have been hard to reproduce such intimate settings after that. Soundboard 9.1 - I rate this as a soundboard because even though I am not 100% sure, the giveaway is the drums. There’s no way this is from the audience as the drums are in stereo, obviously professionally mixed and panned in a stereo sound field.
