Soundboard 8.9 - Mixed for television broadcast, the sound is a little better than your average videotape source audio in that it is not nearly as compressed sounding. Vocals are mixed hotter than normal but not too bad, some occasional channel disturbances that last seconds and are resolved and are few and far between so overall this is a real good one. Soundboard 8.7 - This is clear enough and is a board tape but my guess is that it is actually sourced from a line feed (video) because I do notice some compression on the signal. Still, it is highly enjoyable, getting ample amounts of bass, drums, and of course guitars (even some panning effects now and then, very cool). Capital Centre Landover, MD. Soundboard 9.2 - The band, and Ted especially, are red hot and the board mix is quite good allowing for equal distribution of bass, drums, guitars, and vocals. -

Audience 8.8 - This is one of those tapes that requires high volume to really bring out the flavor. It’s good, in fact the louder you go the better it is, which is in itself quite nice. Soundboard 9.2 - Strong and clear as a board should be, but probably not mixed for a live album release, more for front of house sound which explains the interesting way the two guitars are panned…I rather like it. This allows you to really get the musicality of the performance and that is where this tape literally takes off. The playing is top shelf and worthy of paying serious attention to. On a side note, every now and then there will be a tape problem that resolves itself right away and I think this is present on the master. It is not a deal breaker at all, it happens few and far between. Audience 7.8 - Thin to win, well yeah it’s kinda like that because though it is not exactly booming hi fi, it does allow one to appreciate this man’s guitar wizardry at a time in his career where you can literally hear him transitioning out of hard psyche rock into blues rock. Not a lot of Taste live recordings out there, this is a complete show, it’s worth having. -
Audience 9.3 - A great, loud and clear tape, some very minor tape hiss is all but when the music is cranking it ain’t even there. Hot guitar, screaming tone, mean blues riffing everywhere. -
Audience 9.5 - Interesting recording, it’s very clear and present and you might assume it is a board tape, but it sounds like mic capture to my ears. Very bright and clear, a MUST have! -
Audience 8.4 - Little know psyche/prog act that delivers a very competent level of performance that captivates the listener. It’s their seemingly improved jamming that sets them apart, I call it “intuitive jamming” and they are masters at it. A little like Jethro Tull at times. Fantastic! -
Pro 9.6 - Possibly recorded for an LP or broadcast but either way it is superbly detailed. Lovely! -
Audience 8.9 - This tape gets the nod for being a well-captured piece of music at a time when music was seeing significant change. One of those change bands, beginning in the 2nd half of the 70's, was Talking Heads and they remained at the forefront for quite a few years. This tape shows why...it's got a very realistic feel to it and the band sounds confident.
